**Responsibilities**

**SUMMARY** - Designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates evidence-based educational programs, orientations, and continuing education that facilitate the professional growth, skill development, and competency of staff. These programs primarily support the organization's mission, vision, values and strategic goals to ensure quality, safety, and service in patient and family-centered care. Demonstrates experience in specific area of clinical nursing that has been further developed through masters preparation in nursing. A selected patient population is focus of practice. Population may be further defined according to age group: psychological, social, cultural, biophysical systems; or patient status on health-illness continuum. Position is based on needs of patient and healthcare system. Scope of practice encompasses use of nursing process in major areas: practice, education, consultation, research and administration. This position is accountable for promoting excellence in clinical nursing practice. The incumbent is responsible for knowledge driven outcomes management, advance clinical practice, education to staff, patient, family and community. Also serves as a clinical consultant to staff, hospital administration, physician, patients, family and community.

**Qualifications**

**MINIMUM**

MSN

Specialty certification and 5 years clinical practice in area of specialty required.

Arizona RN or compact state license

American Heart Association BLS

Other certifications as required by clinical areas

Clinical nurse specialist certification

Experience with Windows and word processing applications required.

**PREFERRED**

2 years teaching experience

Experience with spreadsheets, databases, graphics applications preferred.
