Principal Systems Engineer Mercury’s Microsystems business is seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our growing, engaging, and collaborative team. You are responsible for: Providing technical leadership to the engineering team specifically focused on understanding and improving our development processes to ensure we produce quality products using your expertise in systems engineering. Responsibilities: * Support the research, development, and engineering of complex microelectronic components and assemblies including SiPs and multi-chip-modules * Perform systems engineering and analysis of microelectronic assemblies and their constituent parts including: multiple die/chiplets, interposers, Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) substrates, printed-wiring-boards, packages, and materials * Ensure that systems delivered meet customer needs and specifications for the intended application * Analyze the balance of system attributes including performance, cost, schedule, producibility, reliability, supportability, etc. * Consider the entire systems lifecycle: concept, requirements, architecture, functional and physical analysis, detailed design, integration, verification/test, validation, operation, maintenance, etc. * Perform Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities including generation of models for microelectronic devices using SysML or equivalent * Serve as liaison for engineering activities and foster communication and collaboration between stakeholders including: all engineering disciplines, customers, vendors, operations, supply chain, quality, contracts, configuration/data management, and other supporting organizations * Perform needs analysis to understand customer use cases and care-abouts Elicit and derive requirements based on stakeholder needs and manage the requirements throughout the product development cycle including full traceability * Support of integration and verification planning, execution, and traceability Perform trades studies on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors * Write technical documentation including specs, plans, procedures, analysis results, etc. * Consider the effects of actions on the system as a whole. I.e. “systems-thinking” * Supports project management with planning, organizing, scheduling, and project execution. E.g., generating a work breakdown structure for an integrated schedule Investigates solutions to product and process problems and issues * Willing to help the team in areas outside of specific technical discipline You will be a part of: The Mercury Microsystems team responsible for the rapid development of affordable, chip-scale, secure, open system architecture devices. This leading-edge capability also addresses a need by the Department of Defense (DoD) for made-in-USA microelectronics that equip our warfighters with state-of-the-art, Trusted, military-grade products that leverage the most advanced commercial technologies. To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience: * Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Systems, Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent education and experience required * Minimum Experience: 10+ Years experience as a systems/project engineer * Experience in the DOD and/or Aerospace domains a plus * Requirements management tools (e.g. Jama, DOORS) * Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) * Ability to derive and decompose system requirements, functions, and physical elements to lower levels and across disciplines with full traceability * Generation of multiple system viewpoints though diagrams (e.g. functional diagrams, physical diagrams, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, etc. Risk and opportunity management * Ability to read and write technical documentation. e.g. test plans, procedures, and reports Experience with the following is a plus: Jama for requirements development/management Cameo / MagicDraw for MBSE * Atlassian tool suite including Confluence and Jira Lab / test equipment: power supplies, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc. * Must be able to obtain government security clearance Work effectively individually and as part of a team * Excellent writing, spelling, verbal, and interpersonal skills * Manage projects or processes * Embrace the company culture that includes the following values and behaviors: Teamwork, execution, and communication Integrity, trust, customer focus, commitment, and a sense of urgency * Delivering results, innovation, helping and caring for others, recognizing and rewarding success, and life-long learning Why should you join Mercury Systems?
