In our **Office of General Counsel** , you’ll be part of an organization that collaborates with outside counsel to operate as a global team and deliver world-class legal, tax and audit services to client groups throughout the company.
Ford is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join our Legal and Compliance Office as a Trade Controls Attorney. The position will report directly to Ford’s Trade Controls Counsel and support Ford’s global business operations with a wide variety of legal, regulatory, compliance and policy matters. The Trade Controls Attorney will work with business and corporate teams to identify issues and provide legal guidance on export control and sanctions matters, monitor and respond to regulatory changes, and support the development, deployment, and implementation of the company’s trade controls compliance policies and procedures.
**What you will do…**
+ Take a pragmatic approach to legal advice and problem solving
+ Provide legal and regulatory guidance on restricted party screening, export classifications, deemed exports, licensing requirements, embargoed countries, and other economic sanctions, in support of global operations
+ Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of effective policies, processes, controls, and internal training programs
+ Collaborate with business and regional partners on due diligence and compliance reviews of trade compliance matters in relation to customers, suppliers, and third-party intermediaries
+ Work with and advise sales, engineering, and other stakeholders on trade compliance requirements and related processes
+ Support trade compliance activities associated with corporate transactions including partnership and acquisition integration activities
+ Communicate advice to business clients in a simple, usable, and practical way
+ Provide legal support to colleagues on trade related compliance investigations and voluntary disclosures
+ Support the Compliance Office on other projects, initiatives, and strategic opportunities as may arise from time-to-time
**You'll have…**
+ Education/Qualification: Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to the bar in Michigan or of another state bar and eligible for admission as in-house counsel in Michigan
+ Experience: At least 5 years’ experience advising on export controls and sanctions regulations and compliance programs
