**Responsibilities**

The MR Safety Tech MA is an integral member of the MRI team. The MR Safety Tech MA serves as first point of contact for allied health, nursing, clinicians and patients as they enter the MRI area helping to forge critical relationships. They must possess exceptional communication skills and finesse as they supervise visitors and other Mayo staff who require access to MRI by providing safety instruction, intensive screening and prepping to enter into the MR zones III or IV safely. The MR Safety Tech MA is responsible for screening everyone who enters and ensures compliance from staff for all MR Safety related policies and procedures. The MR safety Tech MA is also a member of the Hybrid operation room MR Safety team. The individual provides a wide variety of patient services and assistance to includes: screening operation room staff, equipment and vendors before and during Intra Operative procedures. The MR Safety Tech MA is responsible for personnel and equipment entering zone 4 from operation room suite to ensure that items containing ferrous material does not enters into the MR environment. MR Safety Tech MA will take instruction from MR TL(s) and MR Coordinator to deliver direct patient care which includes: assisting technologist with set-up of MRI appropriate equipment for anesthesia or inpatient use and appropriately store and recharge when finished, delivers MR patient care equipment to inpatient units, works closely with BioMed for maintenance and placing work orders for MR patient care equipment and monitors equipment supply levels, communicate to patients about wait times, facilitate efficient scan room turnover and coil set up, stock supplies in MR rooms and zone II.

**Qualifications**

+ High school diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate from a Medical Assistant diploma or associate degree program. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of recent medical assistant experience working in an applicable setting.

+ Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. **Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA), or registration (RMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is required.**
