GenTech in Schools: KidsTech
GenTechs award winning STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) programs are in nine school districts covering Paradise Valley, Deer Valley, Northwest Phoenix, Central Phoenix, and Southwest Phoenix. Currently KidsTech programs are taught in over 300 classes across the valley featuring six STEM programs.

Length of Internship: 1 semester
KidsTech Work Times and Scheduling:
KidsTech serves schools on specific and scheduled days from Monday - Friday
● During the School day
○ As an academic “specials” class.
○ Time slots are generally from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
● After School or Enrichment programs
○ As either a school contracted or parent paid program
○ Time slots are generally from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

All scheduling is aligned to your availability and your desire to work from 1 to 20 hours per week depending on the jobs available at the time of your application. Your location is factored in your scheduling as a consideration of your drive time. A reliable vehicle is mandatory.

Pay Scale:
● Training pay rate is $15.00 / hour.
● Classroom pay rate is $ 30.00 / hour.
● Bonuses are given at a semester end meeting and social.
● Bonus amounts are generously calculated based on the success of the semester, and the instructors overall performance including attendance, leadership and participation.

Training:
Basic training is about 10 hours and is generally held on Saturdays or divided into two sessions. They are always fun and lively with lunch provided. Additional training sessions may continue throughout the semester as needed. Some independent training is provided.

Training Topics:
● Instructor resources are provided in the Instructor Portal: Scheduler, Slack, Job Protocols,
Curriculum, School information, Teaching Strategies
● Instruction on computer hardware, microbits, 3D printers, robots and technical materials.
Significant time is playing with robots and technologies taught in classes.
● Instruction on software programs used in courses and instructor logons.
● Behavior management related to specific age levels.
● Overview of the KidsTech curriculum Grades K - 12
● Overview of the prepared lessons for the classes you will teach. Each course has tons of activities and adventures for kids. It is very important for all instructors to know all the material prior to teaching your class. We want the kids (and you) to have a blast in class.

Qualifications:
Instructional:
● A genuine passion for working with children.
● An outgoing, confident, and fun-loving demeanor
● A presence as a strong, safe classroom leader
● Ability to instill rules of conduct and manage student behaviors
● A willingness to learn the KidsTech STEM curriculum
● Ability to communicate STEM concepts using age appropriate methods
● Patience and compassion in working with diverse populations
● A strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young learners.

Technical:
● General proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or C++.
● A solid grasp of computer science fundamentals, troubleshooting, problem solving
● Some computer hardware, operating systems, and networking knowledge
● Elementary knowledge of electronics and circuitry
● Basic knowledge or willingness to learn robotics
● Basic knowledge or willingness to learn 3D Printing, CAD, laser/CNC

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Demonstrate your technical expertise in an creative, instructional model
● Share perspectives and inspire kids to consider potential STEM career opportunities.
● Manage kids and classroom activities, lessons and behavior. Understand that this is difficult.
● Manage classroom logistics, safety, attendance, communication and protocols with GenTech
