**Recruitment Incentive** Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents (as defined in 5 CFR 575.102) will be offered a $20,000 incentive. The first $10,000 to be paid upon successfully completing the academy and the remainder to be paid in full after completing a three-year service agreement. New Agents accepting a hard to fill location will be eligible for an additional $10,000 (for a total of $30,000). Hard to fill locations can include Sierra Blanca, TX; Presidio, TX; Sanderson, TX; Comstock, TX; Lordsburg, NM; Freer, TX; Hebbronville, TX; Ajo, AZ. All incentive recipients will be required to sign a three-year service agreement.
The basic requirements to be eligible for a position are:
be referred for tentative selection prior to your 40th birthday (exceptions for veterans’ preference eligible or those who previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement capacity),
be a U.S. Citizen,
reside in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years (military exception),
have a valid driver's license,
possess at least one year of generalized work experience (minimum of 1,820 hours paid or unpaid) and/or a four-year degree,
no marijuana use within last 90 days (including THC/CBD) or other illegal narcotics use within 3 years, and
no face or head tattoos.
You may be disqualified from the application process if your background includes:
Use/sale of illegal drugs
Convictions, including misdemeanors for domestic violence
International harboring or concealment of undocumented non-citizens
