About the Immunogenetics Laboratory Manager:

The Immunogenetics Laboratory Manager is responsible for the operations and administrative activities of the Immunogenetics Laboratory, ensuring all procedures are conducted in accordance with established policies and budget. Under general direction of the Director of Organ Donor Optimization and Laboratory Technical Director, ensures the efficient operation of the laboratory.

Develops organizational and cross-departmental strategies to maximize donation and transplantation.
Performs policy development, implementation, revision and obsoletion as needed for the department.
Ensures day-to-day operational processes and procedures are aligned with overall department strategy and follows standard operational procedures/requirements.
Participates in department budget and staffing plans.
Evaluates/recommends new products and improved laboratory procedures.
Oversees staff scheduling and assignments.
Hires and evaluates staff to include observation of testing competency. Assures training of new employees to include in-service education and lab safety training.
Ensures all department staff are performing their duties according to established Donor Network of Arizona guidelines and regulatory or affiliated agency standards.
Manages supply inventory to meet testing requirements and budget goals.
Performs review and approval process on department expenses.
Prepares lab budget and supporting reports as needed.
Monitors monthly laboratory expenses and G/L entries to verify accuracy and identify budget variances.

Serves as the General Supervisor under American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) standards.
Oversees the laboratory quality assurance program. Collects and reports Quality Monitor data and manages the Nonconformance process.
Ensures timely completion of equipment and reagent QC. Oversees QC documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Maintains procedure manuals in compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

Certified Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) certification and bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.

3 years full-time experience in a histocompatibility and immunogenetics (HLA) laboratory under a qualified director.

Meets current state, federal and other regulatory education/experience.

Qualifies as a general supervisor under ASHI standards.
