Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Tax Accountant in Tempe, Arizona. This role will be based in a hybrid workplace, primarily in the retail industry. The Staff Tax Accountant will be instrumental in the maintenance and processing of customer credit applications, as well as the management of customer accounts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Calculation of the monthly fuel tax returns. Troubleshoot with team on a daily basis.

• Maintain tax records and related schedules associated with the Federal and Multi-State/County/City motor fuel and environmental tax jurisdictions.

• Gather and analyze ERP system (PDI) and other various databases fuel reporting metrics on a calendar period basis.

• Utilize Avalara software for EDI reporting to various jurisdictions.

• Assist with research on any Federal, State and Local tax notices on a timely basis.

• Assist with reconciling tax discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.

• Maintain accounting controls by following SOX procedures and maintain financial security by following internal controls.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of Accounting specific experience.

• Must be computer literate in Word and an advanced Excel user (need to be comfortable with Pivot Tables & V-lookups).

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to organize and prioritize detailed information.

• Proficient at problem solving and data analysis.

• Strong time management skills.

• Committed and strong team player.

• Detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
