Job Description:

Microchip’s MPU group offers microprocessors which rightly balance the performance, power, cost and comes with advanced security capabilities which caters to a multitude of applications. With a broad set of peripherals and interfaces, these MPUs can support a wide range of applications. Point of sales systems, home and industrial automation systems, automotive infotainment etc. are just a few among various supported end uses.

As a Staff Design Engineer in the MPU32 group, you will work with our multi-sited global Silicon Development Team in design and development of complex SoCs. The work will include SoC design integration, microarchitecture, design verification, synthesis, test methodologies as well as supporting post silicon bring up. A successful candidate will also be responsible for training and mentoring junior engineers to grow the team. This position requires a proactive and highly motivated candidate with a proven record of success in a multi-site and multi-functional team environment. The position is based out of Chandler, USA.

Responsibilities

Design and integration of complex IPs and subsystems into SoC
Understanding SoC requirements and architecture specifications
Understand IP specifications and work with IP/architecture/application teams to correctly integrate the IPs into SOCs, meeting the chip level requirements.
RTL Design
Run RTL checks – Lint, CDC, RDC
Support Development of verification plan for subsystems/SoC
Collaborate with cross functional teams in architecture and IP evaluations, performance, power analysis, pre and post silicon validation
Overcome design challenges, support achievement of verification goals, provide debug support
Hold spec reviews, code reviews, integration reviews, coverage analysis, etc. to meet quality goals
Development of timing constraints and synthesis
Power Estimation and Analysis
Provide guidance to junior team members
Requirements/Qualifications:

Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 12+ years of experience
Expert in digital design
Excellent understanding of System on Chip architectures
Working experience and thorough understanding of ARM AMBA bus protocols
Working experience in complex SoC design and verification projects
Expertise in RTL coding using Verilog/SystemVerilog
Low Power Design knowledge.
Good Understanding of C
Previous experience and proficiency in any one of commonly used scripting languages (Perl, Python etc)
Excellent debug skills in both functional and gate level simulations
IP/SoC Synthesis experience
Proficiency and experience in configuration and integration of some of the following SOC components
DDR/LPDDR SDRAM
CAN, I3C, GMAC, PCIe, USB
Security IPs like DES, AES, SHA
MIPI DSI/CSI, GPU, Video Codec IPs
SoC Interconnects
ARM Trustzone, Coresight
Knowledge of standard version control systems
Superior Written and Verbal Communication skills
Experience working with global cross functional teams
Preferred Skills:

Experience with ARM Cortex based SoCs
Experience in IP/SoC Verification
Experience/Understanding of verification using UVM
Experience in STA and timing closure
Experience in Emulation/pre silicon validations
Experience in Post silicon bring up
Experience in ISO26262 based SoC design flows
Knowledge and exposure to complete SOC RTL to GDS to silicon release flow is desired
Experience in leading teams
