Job Description:

Microchip Technology is currently seeking a solutions-minded engineer to join our Corporate Applications Engineering (CAE) team. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical support to clients. This requires the candidate to analyze problems using product data sheets, schematics, scope plots, and other tools. The candidate will write/analyze source code and perform hardware/firmware testing to provide guidance in resolving technical issues. Furthermore, the candidate will be responsible for documenting issues to drive corrective action. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical, communication, and organizational skills, and will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of Microchip Technology's product portfolio, with ongoing opportunities for professional development.

Requirements/Qualifications:

C language programming.
Hardware / software debugging.
Help customers overcome hardware and software design challenges.
Perform root cause analysis and document issues.
Work with development tools to replicate customer issues.
Provide phone and electronic support to customers.
Participate and communicate within a global team environment.
Author and review articles for Microchip's Knowledge Base, application notes, and other written collateral.
Execute on a personalized development plan designed to improve embedded technical knowledge and client support capability.
Minimum qualifications include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
0-3 years of professional experience developing embedded firmware and/or hardware.
High level of proficiency in hardware / firmware debugging.
High level of proficiency in C/C++. Ability to work with electrical schematics. Expertise in one or more of the following microcontroller peripherals UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, DMA, PWM.
Strong working knowledge of electronic lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, logic analyzer, digital multi-meter, protocol analyzers, soldering iron and other tools). Pro-active problem solver.
Highly proficient in the English language.
Strong verbal, written, and organization skills.
Team player, with a can-do attitude.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred qualifications include:

Master's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Familiar with USB and/or Ethernet specifications.
Experience with Embedded Linux and RTOS.
Customer support experience.
Proficient in assembly language programming.
Knowledge of advanced protocols – CAN, LIN, Bluetooth.
Solid understanding of one of more of the following: Power Electronics, Hardware Development (Schematic Design, PCB prototyping).
Analog hardware background.
Familiarity with Microchip Technology’s products and services.
