Summary

Sr Accounting Specialist performs specialized accounting functions and recommends/implements solutions to accounting problems. Sr Accounting Specialist coordinates the preparation of data, computer input, account control, adjustments, corrections, and the reporting of financial data.

Duties and Responsibilities

+ Performs accounting services with primary support in Disbursements (Accounts Payable, Payroll).

+ Prepares journal entries and reconciles account balances with appropriate records.

+ Conducts special investigations and compiles accounting data for specific activities.

+ Provide updates and documentation for processes and procedures.

+ Coordinates or performs the accumulation, analysis and distribution of accounting data.

+ Coordinates accounting methods and recommends/implements improvement in departmental procedures.

+ Performs liaison activities with accounting management, internal and external customers.

+ Investigates problems and implements corrective action.

+ Reviews and analyzes accounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and DOE/NNSA orders.

+ Assists in training personnel in various accounting routines and procedures.

+ Analyzes financial system output and initiates corrections as required.

+ Performs, reviews, and analyzes a variety of financial-related calculations.

You Must Have

+ High School diploma and 5 years of relevant experience.

+ Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.

+ Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.

+ United States Citizenship.

+ Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

+ Associate’s degree in accounting.

+ Knowledge of general accounting or payroll methods and practices normally acquired through a degree in accounting or equivalent formal education and experience.

+ Proficiency in in Microsoft Office Suite.

+ Ability to quickly analyze complex financial information and initiate/recommend appropriate actions.
