CONTRACT TERMS:  12-month
 
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff Salary Schedule – Group H

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Repairs, installs and maintains water, gas, irrigation and sewer lines, and water heaters, toilets, dishwashers, sinks and other plumbing pipes and fixtures.  Coordinates the activities of other tradesmen and subcontractors.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
Repairs, installs and maintains plumbing and fixtures, such as water, sewer, irrigation and gas lines, and faucets, toilets, sinks, lavatories, drinking fountains, hot water heaters, grease traps, booster pumps, etc.
Estimates costs, time and materials and parts for projects;
Troubleshoots plumbing leaks, breaks and stoppages. Determines method of repair and materials needed;
Operates equipment as needed to complete plumbing projects, such as backhoes, drain machines, trenchers, jackhammers, hydraulic pumps, welders and other special equipment;
Coordinates plumbing activities with site personnel, outside agencies, contractors and other tradesmen as needed;
Orders materials and parts as needed;
Reads blueprints and performs Blue Staking as needed;
Uses office equipment, such as telephones, computer, printer and copier;
Operates a motor vehicle and special equipment needed to complete plumbing projects, as listed above;
May use radio equipment and other tools of the trade;
Performs other duties as assigned. 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
A.  REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent;
Four years of plumbing experience and completion of a training or apprenticeship program in the field;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Knowledge of plumbing codes;
Possession of a valid Arizona driver’s license;
Backflow tester certification after hire.
 
B.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
Physical exertion is required as a normal part of assigned duties;
Assistance is available to perform unusually physically demanding tasks;
Work may involve lifting and carrying objects weighing as much as 50 pounds as a regular part of the job;
May require occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds;
Considerable walking, climbing, stooping, twisting, bending, reaching and sitting for considerable periods of time may be required as a normal part of the job;
Employees may have minor restrictions of motion; however, the restrictions must not prohibit performance of assigned duties, and vision and hearing should be rated as acceptable to obtain the required driver’s license.

D. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:  Must use sound judgment in performing the job and has responsibility for some equipment, tools or money, or access to confidential records.
EVALUATION PROCEDURE:  In accordance with Governing Board policy;
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports to the Director of Facilities/Maintenance
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  None.
