THE POSITION

As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be a key contributor to the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical solutions. You will play a critical role in guiding and driving the mechanical design process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable products. You will also have the opportunity to provide technical guidance and facilitate to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. Your guidance and mentorship will inspire and motivate the team to deliver exceptional results.

In this role, your expertise in mechanical design and development will contribute to the creation of cutting-edge products and solutions that meet the needs of our customers. By guiding and driving the mechanical design process, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality and reliable mechanical systems, components, and assemblies. Your ability to work with cross-functional teams and define mechanical requirements and specifications will enable seamless integration with other components and systems, enhancing the overall performance and functionality of our products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

+ This position is responsible for providing technical expertise as a program team leader in identifying and developing new E&PS products

+ Leading proposals to address future business opportunities, value engineering, and program/process changes

+ Acting as critical focal point for driving and implementing COE goals and objectives

+ Recognized by business management as a primary mechanical design technical authority

+ Mentoring global teams and early career engineers

+ Developing new business and product strategy; defining program plans and product architecture.

+ Building strategy around process/product improvements or new tools development

U.S. CITIZEN REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have asylum or refugee status in the U.S.

YOU MUST HAVE

+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering from an accredited university

+ 12+ years of mechanical design engineering experience in gas turbine engines installations & externals design, including additive manufacturing, plumbing systems, wiring harnesses, brackets & mounts, component integration, fire suppression & detection and installation kits

+ 10+ years of experience in mechanical design with NX or CAD design tool including modeling, drafting, DMU management, layouts and design proposals

+ Proven application of ASME Y14.5 drawing standards including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

+ Experience in Conceptual Design, Preliminary Design and Detailed Design phases

+ Experience with supplier engagement, and support to phase 6+ programs

+ Demonstrated experience in coordinating and overseeing successful projects with experience leading design teams

+ Ability to lead and mentor engineers as a subject matter expert
