Special Information

• This position will require some weekend and evening work, 2 to 4 days per month.

Job Description
Career Development Coordinator, Senior assists in the management of career education, provides career education and advising to NAU students of all academic years and majors through individual appointments, group workshops, and self-paced resources, and works with stakeholders across the university to integrate career content into students' curricular and co-curricular experiences. The position requires advanced knowledge of concepts and practices of career programming as well as other segments including student employment and employer relations within NAU Career Development. The position requires a high level of independent work, identification of problems, and latitude in improving processes and finding solutions.
Career Advising and Education - 50%
• Advise individual students on resume/cover letter development, interview skills, and job search strategies, for student employment, internships, and full-time employment.
• Provide expertise to students on a variety of career exploration tools and related resources, such as O*Net, MBTI, Clifton Strengths, or others.
• Conduct workshops of varying sizes (up to 100 students) on a variety of topics including resumes/cover letters, interview skills, job search strategies, networking/relationship building, and strengths/interests/values/personality and their impact on career decisions and transferable skills.
• Customize and deliver college/program-specific programming or other specialized initiatives.
• Develop communications, working with NAU entities to promote Career Development, its services, and its benefits electronically, in print, and via other channels.
• Create and maintain online and print career resources for students.
• Assist in the planning/implementation of career and job fairs.
• Assist in management and tracking of coverage and performance of 1-on-1 meetings across the department.
• Specialist with Online Career Employment Service Systems such as Handshake, Suitable, Udemy, LinkedIn, etc.
University Partnerships - 20%
• Serve as the liaison to one or more academic colleges and departments. Develop and nurture relationships within the college(s) with administrators, faculty, academic advisors, career development offices where applicable, and other staff, building deep functional knowledge of the career development needs of that college's student population.
• Serve as the liaison to one or more Student Affairs programs (e.g., Veterans and Transfer, First Generation, Residence Life, Fraternity and Sorority Life) developing and nurturing relationships with staff and student leaders, building deep functional knowledge of the career development needs of that program's student population.
• Serve as the liaison to one or more other NAU programs (e.g., Athletics, Center for International Education), developing and nurturing relationships with program staff and student leaders, building deep functional knowledge of the career development needs of that program's student population.
• For all liaison roles, identify student career development needs, determine the best career development solutions to meet those needs, and partner to provide services to the assigned student population.
• May collect and analyze data (qualitative and quantitative) to assess the effectiveness and impact of Career Development programming partnerships.
• Lead on career development representation at Enrollment Management/recruiting events including planning, staffing, and promotional signage, and materials.
Program Development and Management - 15%
• Independently develops relationships with departments across divisions and colleges connecting to programming and curriculum with the desired outcome of positive student development in career concepts and procedures.
• Implement department goals, strategies/tactics, and performance measures for the Career Programming function and evaluate the effectiveness of specific programs or initiatives based on completion of these goals.
• Manage and support specific projects/programs including ‘Career Steps' throughout the project lifecycle from conceptualization through development, implementation, and assessment. Has latitude in fine-tuning content to the needs of specific users and working across the university to promote usage.
• Articulate the NAU-wide career development philosophy designed to meet the needs of NAU's student population and effectively prepare them for the realities of the 21st century workforce; develop or oversee the development of programs grounded in this philosophy.
Team Management and Development - 10%
• Specialist in career development of students, student workers, graduate students and staff in career curriculum, Online Career Employment Service Systems, presentation skills, and 1-on-1 meeting content and delivery.
• Coordinate the activities of graduate assistants, student workers, and interns assisting with assigned projects, review and provide feedback on work products, and provide general mentoring and guidance.
• Review peers' work products and provide feedback.
• Achieve goals established by Career Development and Student Affairs; report on progress and recommend changes to the program based on assessment results.
• Maintain current knowledge of career development, employment and recruiting trends, college student development, and other related topics as appropriate.
• Assessment of leading and lagging indicators using demographic data, student data, and survey responses of the clients served by the career programing and career development team.
Other - 5%
• May represent NAU Career Development at NAU, regionally, and beyond at conferences, networking events, and other professional development events.
• Serve on department, division, and/or university committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment.
• 3+ years teaching, counseling, or advising high school students, college students, or young professionals on career, academic subjects, or personal development topics.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years experience working in a university setting or industry recruiting.
• 2+ years experience teaching or facilitating workshops in a higher education, non-profit, or corporate environment.
• Experience developing and nurturing stakeholder relationships across a large, diverse organization.

Background Information
This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Salary
Salary range begins at $49,761. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
