Join our Culinary Services team in Northern Colorado! As a Nutrition Tech you will be answering phones and taking patient meal orders, along with educating patients on their physician ordered diets. **We are looking for someone who has previous hospital or dietary aid experience.**
This position is Full-Time (40 hours) at Banner North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO.
**Shift times: 6:00 am – 2:30pm** **AND** **10:30am – 7:00pm. Need to be able to work BOTH shift times. Every other weekend is required.**
Banner McKee Medical Center is a 117-bed, acute-care hospital in Loveland, Colorado, a vibrant arts community located 40 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. Our hospital offers an array of inpatient and outpatient services including medical, pediatric, orthopedic, surgical, heart, cancer, and critical care. The Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center is amongst Northern Colorado's leading cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities. Banner McKee is also a Level III trauma center. We are the only hospital in the Rocky Mountain region to be designated an Epicenter for robotic-assisted gynecological surgery by Intuitive Surgical, the manufacturer of the DaVinci surgical robot. Our physicians, nurses and other health care professionals can train on state-of-the-art computerized patient simulation mannequins in our simulation center. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing patients with menu and tray/patient meal service, for receiving and forwarding patient requests and communication to dietary staff when appropriate. Works to provide patient satisfaction with dietary and food services. This position is responsible for the diet office processes and may provide lead responsibility for diet office in absence of supervisor including making assignments for position coverage.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Visits patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based upon diet ordered. Using judgment, checks that patient selections are appropriate to the defined selections for the diet prescribed, and makes modified diet decisions whether in the diet office or on the patient unit as required. Enters or records all daily patient meal selections and preferences for one or more patient units. Provides patients with standard information for prescribed diet. Requests Dietary staff assistance when needed.
2. Provides diet office processing including editing patient menus, tallying daily menu item counts from patient menus and preparing production sheets.
3. May lead in patient tray assembly/patient meal service process, assure food presentation meets quality standards, and check patient trays for menu compliance. Position is responsible for the diet office processes.
4. May delivers and serves meals while making independent judgments about special requests, snacks and nourishments as assigned to patient rooms or nursing units.
5. Under minimal supervision, this position interacts with patients and families, other food service staff, nursing staff, and dietary staff. Requires the ability to follow a work routine with minimal supervision, to work quickly and correctly while providing good customer service and maintaining dietary, food quality and sanitation standards. Ensures that the diet office processes are completed and may provide lead responsibility in absence of supervisor, typically during evening and/or weekend shifts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Requires reading, writing and mathematical skills.
Requires an understanding of nutrition services, common modified diets, and portion measures. Skills and knowledge in health care nutrition services typically gained through 3 years of related experience and/or education.
Ability to effectively lead assignments and reschedule staff assignments in the absence of supervisor as required. Requires the ability to work effectively with business computer software system and point of sale systems. Requires the ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required. Must have demonstrated effective customer service skills. Employees working at the Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional skills and knowledge in health care nutrition services preferred. Bilingual skills preferred in some assignments.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
