POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Mechanic performs routine maintenance and repairs on all types of heavy construction equipment and light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, air conditioning, hydraulic electrical, fuel, air systems and general mechanical experience is required. Works in the shop and performs field repairs when necessary. Report’s condition of vehicles and equipment and records repairs and maintenance in daily logs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnose and repair/rebuild all equipment and vehicles as assigned
Repairs vehicles and equipment according to manufacturer specifications
Perform routine repair and maintenance of equipment and vehicles as needed and on time
Operate construction equipment and vehicles in order verify needed repairs
Experience/ability to use SIS/ET and other programs when required
Perform miscellaneous welding to repair items as needed
Strive to maintain zero repeat/rework repairs
Clean equipment and vehicles in the process of making repairs
Maintain daily logs in a legitimate, timely and organized fashion
Complete all paperwork and turn in as required daily (time sheets, etc.)
May drive company vehicle to get parts
Meet weekly for safety meeting
Ability to work off hours including some weekends
Keep assigned truck clean and organized
Clean up after yourself and assist in keeping the shop/yard clean and organized
Seek knowledge of new technologies/methods used in truck and equipment maintenance and repairs
Recommend measures to Equipment Manager to improve safety, production, equipment performance and repair quality
Abide by company work policies and safety rules
Support and/or adheres to the company’s mission, values, philosophies, and policies
Performs additional duties as assigned, given adequate guidance and resources
Able to work with minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
A minimum of 5 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group to other employees of the organization
Commercial Driver's License Class “B” with Tank endorsement is preferred. AC 609 Certification

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. May require long days, nights, and weekend work.
Personal Protective Equipment – Must be able to wear safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, ear plugs safety vest, sturdy footwear and respirator as job requires.
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Commercial Driver's License with a Hazmat endorsement required. Minimum Class B License.
