**We are looking for:**

We are explorers creating breakthroughs that advance humanity. Our Mining Solutions team is accelerating electrification, the energy transition, and hyper connectivity through innovative reagent-based solutions. We are looking for a **Research Scientist** to join our Metal Extraction Products research team. The Metals Extraction Products division within Mining Solutions is a global leader in solvent extraction chemistry for copper, cobalt/nickel, and lithium separations.

The Research Scientist will be responsible for developing new products and solutions in the field of hydrometallurgy, with a focus on solvent extraction processes for the recovery of metals from aqueous solutions.

**We count on you for:**

+ Design, perform or oversee laboratory experiments to support new product and process development in the field of hydrometallurgy

+ Document laboratory observations, analyze results, and effectively communicate them to members of the project team

+ Perform all duties safely using appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE)

+ Comply to all internal and external safety standards

+ Maintain laboratory instrumentation, chemicals, and supplies

+ Research and propose new technologies to address industry trends and unmet customer needs

+ Prepare new patent applications for Syensqo created IP

+ Prepare and present technical presentations, articles, and training for internal and external use

**You will bring:**

+ MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Metallurgy

+ Strong applied chemistry skills with 5+ years’ experience in an industrial product or process development laboratory setting

+ Experience in the field of hydrometallurgy preferred

+ Knowledge of solvent extraction operation, chemistry and testing methods an asset

+ Familiarity with the use of chemistry/thermodynamic simulation software for process design and optimization

+ Proficiency with a variety of computer software packages including Google and Microsoft platforms

+ A proven record of innovative thinking and problem solving

+ Willingness and ability to learn new technologies to match diverse industry needs

+ Must have a high degree of initiative and actively seek new tasks and job responsibilities

+ High attention to detail

**You will get:**

+ Competitive salary and benefits package.

+ The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $90,880 to $113,600 per year Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.

+ 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations

**Additional Information:**
