Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Information and Technology, Field Support Directorate, Southwest Region, located in Tucson, AZ. Responsibilities Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Information and Technology will allow you to use your communication skills to design, develop, and monitor voice, data, and video surveillance systems. This position starts at a salary of $105,268.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $136,852.00 (GS-13, Step 10). In this Lead Telecommunications Specialist position, you will become a key member of Homeland Security professionals by coordinating and conducting performance measurements on new and advanced wireless telecommunication equipment and techniques. Typical work assignments include: Leading and communicating to teams of technicians and operational specialist in assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues, deadlines, and timeframes for completion. Preparing feasibility and suitability assessments on new technology to support mission needs, such as designing, coordinating, and conducting technical evaluations on a wide range of complex voice communications systems, Telephony, unattended ground sensor systems (UGSS), remote video surveillance systems (RVSS), mobile surveillance platforms, and infrastructure solutions, surveillance systems, and infrastructure solutions. Providing support and installation for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS) detection and cSUAS (Counter SUAS), Image sensors and aerostat support duties. Interacting with internal and external stakeholders as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing instruction on the capabilities, limitations, and operation of telecommunication equipment. Providing support, monitoring, coordinating, and conducting a variety of technical evaluations, troubleshooting, and repairs on stationary and mobile remote video and radar surveillance, sensor intrusion systems and networks.
