The Role - Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking an Design Engineer (Busbars Cable Assemblies) to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Mesa. AZ. The successful candidate will create design layouts and production drawings, assuring form, fit, and function of components through dimensional studies, analytical analysis, product testing, and collaboration with sister divisions. The key responsibilities of the Design Engineer (Busbars Cable Assemblies) include, but are not limited to: Prepares detailed designs and specifications of assemblies and individual components Creates design standards for high voltage and high-power busbars Creates termination guides for high voltage and high-power contacts and works closely with sister divisions to design cable assemblies Interfaces with design application engineers and customers to develop solutions that align with customer requirements and expectations Reviews customer documents for compliance with AAO documents and if necessary, prepares new designs to confirm to these documents Prepares and checks drawings as required and process changes Performs engineering investigations of manufacturing/quality problems Interfaces with other departments, suppliers, and sister divisions to develop new designs Location - Mesa, AZ 20 Minute Drive from Phoenix, AZ The Person - The key skills and qualities of a Design Engineer (Busbars Cable Assemblies) at Amphenol Aerospace Operations: Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or other technical discipline, and preferably two or more years related experience Ability to work from either written or oral instructions with minimum supervision Ability to solve problems from easy to complex Ability to interpret and analyze general business periodicals, customer source documents, drawings, and other professional manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public in a consistent and timely manner Ability to manage projects relative to new designs through engineering and qualification testing processes Familiarity with statistical analysis Ability to knowledgeably present complex designs; be organized, self-motivated, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning and using Amphenols operating programs Working knowledge of PTC Creo and Windchill (or similar parametric modeling software) Knowledge of GDT, especially positional tolerancing is preferred Knowledge of basic electrical formulas and basic mechanical systems Willingness to contribute extra effort in support of critical business opportunities Ability to work collaboratively with others on the design engineering team to accomplish required tasks to support the interests of the business Must be able to travel (air and car), travel up to 20% of the time Prolonged periods of computer usage and sitting The Company - With manufacturing sites in Sidney, NY, Mesa, AZ, Nogales, MX, and a Design Center in Pasadena, CA, Amphenol Aerospace Operations has been a leader in designing and manufacturing electrical components for the aviation and commercial airplane industry for over 100 years.
