The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting routine and specialized testing, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. A degree in chemistry or a related field, along with prior experience in a laboratory environment, is preferred but not required. Conduct and document chemical, physical, and microbiological tests of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials for various purposes, such as research and development of new products or processes, quality control, stability, and maintenance of environmental standards. Assure compliance with FDA regulations and ANS policies and procedures including safety, documentation, training, SOPs and STMs. Maintain SOPs, STMs, and specifications. Train others on those procedures, methods, and documents. Order, receive, and distribute standards, samples, documents, and other materials involved in testing of raw materials and products as needed. Participate in audits, responses, and corrective actions.

· Follow all company policies and procedures.

· Follow and ensure compliance to quality system and cGMP programs.

· Monitor raw material and finished product quality (including stability studies) to ensure compliance to standards and specifications. Receive raw materials and finished products into the lab and release them from the lab upon successful completion of testing.

· Set up and conduct chemical and microbiological experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation techniques, microscopy, and microbiological plating.

· Write technical reports and prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results.

· Compile, document, review and interpret results of tests and analyses in order to provide accurate, precise and timely reporting of conditions and results.

· Edit, write, approve, and implement new and revised Laboratory Services SOPs and methods of analysis.

· Receive training and conduct training in association with relevant SOPs and STMs.

· Prepare chemical solutions for the analysis of raw materials and finished products following established methods, or develop and verify methods as needed.

· Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the instruments.

· Maintain, clean, and sterilize (as needed) laboratory instruments and equipment.

· Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies.

· Sample and analyze raw materials and finished products using instruments and techniques such as HPLC, UPLC-MS, HPTLC, UV-Vis, GC-MS, AA, NIR, Mid-IR, ICP-MS, PPSL, wet chemistry, Tapped Density and microbiological procedures (including BioLumix) and other equipment involved in sample preparation and analysis such as microwave digestion and sonicators.

· Research, develop, optimize, verify, and validate new methods and conduct programs of sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.

· Maintain familiarity and conformity and comply with laboratory and company SOPs, cGMP compliance strategies and safety policies.

· Assess the identity, safety, potency, and overall quality of raw materials and finished products.

· Supervise, perform, and finalize OOS and OOT investigations.

· Review new raw materials in conjunction with QA, Formulations, and Purchasing.

· Set specifications for new and existing raw materials and finished products in conjunction with QA.

· Aid in the general flow of lab procedures.

· Perform duties safely and report or correct unsafe conditions or actions.

Qualifications:

· Can Supervise two or more technicians.

· Must have a college degree in a scientific discipline, and at least two years of relevant work experience, such as a Lab Technician. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be substituted.

· No certifications or licenses required.

· Must have moderate math skills.

· Complex reading skills required.

· Complex computer skills needed.

· Must have complex language skills.

· Must have complex writing skills.

· Must be willing to learn new tasks and procedures.

· Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all essential position duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to self or others.

· Maintain a regular and dependable work attendance record with few instances of unplanned and/or unexpected absence.

· Protective equipment such as safety glasses, lab coats, respirators, gloves, hearing protection, masks, back belts, or cGMP attire suits may be required or recommended in certain situations.

Production Area includes these environmental conditions:

· Exposure to food ingredients, including food allergens, in free-floating powder form.

· Moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and risk of electrical shock.
