Job Description
This position supports integration efforts between Counseling, Medical and Health Promotion services within Campus Health. This position is responsible for providing universal education, brief behavioral health interventions, and ongoing behavioral health and counseling services for patients seen in Medical Services. The position plays an integral role in improving access to behavioral and mental health services for the NAU student, faculty, and staff populations.
Clinical/Administrative - 95%
• Provides universal education and brief interventions to patients in medical services
• Facilitates individual and couples path-to-care (PTC) brief appointments
• Provides behavioral health consultations and counseling services to patients of medical services
• Provides case management and documentation in support of service provision
• Provides consultation regarding behavioral health needs in a primary care setting
• Ensures record-keeping and clinical services meet legal, ethical, and accreditation standards and follow Medical Services policies
• Oversees program evaluation activities and monitors program fidelity
Other - 5%
• Serves on departmental and university committees as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree.
• Licensed or license eligible in the State of Arizona as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Associate Counselor within 12 months of hire date.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated competency providing clinical services within an integrated healthcare setting
• Demonstrated experience providing clinical services for the wide range of presenting issues seen in college health, including risk assessment and management, and the treatment of behavioral health concerns (e.g. substance use, stress management, sleep hygiene, healthy eating, etc.)
• Experience using motivational interviewing within clinical contexts
• Experience consulting and collaborating with medical providers within an interdisciplinary setting
• Experience providing brief interventions and behavioral health consultations within a college health center
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Ability to manage a full caseload within a time-limited clinical setting
• Commitment to an integrated model of healthcare
• Experience in the use of electronic/medical records systems; must be computer literate
• Knowledge of the SBIRT model (Screening Brief Intervention Referral to Treatment)
• Knowledge of behavioral health integration models, specifically PCBH
• Highly effective interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with the behavioral health needs of college students, faculty, and staff

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Salary
Salary range begins at $58,882. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following election.
