About the Position

The Department of Psychological Sciences is seeking part-time Faculty Associate team members to teach various 100 and 200 level courses, which may include:

• Introduction to Psychology (PSY101)
• Abnormal Psychology (PSY215)
• Social Psychology (PSY250)
• Developmental Psychology (PSY240)
• Cognitive Psychology (PSY260)
• Statistics (PSY230)
• Research Methods (PSY290)

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Teach 100 and 200 level Psychological Science courses to undergraduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats.
• Faculty Associates are required to prepare introductions to lessons and timely announcements and to offer instructive and encouraging feedback on assignments.
• Faculty Associates who teach face-to-face courses taught to campus-based students are required to hold in-person office hours on NAU's Flagstaff campus for at least two hours per week.

Responsibilities include:

• Provides excellent instruction in a variety of undergraduate courses in the Psychological Sciences BS program.
• Mentor Psychological Sciences undergraduate students.
• Promotes a diverse, inclusive learning environment.

These courses guide students through instructional material designed to support students throughout their university journey and offer career- and future-ready relevant knowledge and skills preparing them for next steps beyond degree completion. Successful candidates will connect students to course material through strong instructor presence and interpersonal skills. Syllabi and lessons are already in place and need only to be personalized with the Faculty Associates' contact information.

These part-time temporary instruction positions are hired on a course-by-course basis each semester with no tenure or ongoing employment implications. Engagement with more than one course are limited to a maximum 2 courses per semester. Course may require a minimum enrollment and can be cancelled if required thresholds are not met.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. This is a pool of part-time Instructors for the department to draw on as necessary. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the Department. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just before the start of the academic term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool will remain in place for one academic year. The application for 2026-2027 will be open in May 2026. Minimum Qualifications

• A MS/MA or Ph.D. at time of hire in the field of discipline you are teaching or related field.
• One year of teaching experience at the community college or university level.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
• Evidence of effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience in student engagement and building rapport with students.
• Expertise in teaching courses online and/or in-person.
• Experience with online delivery platforms such as Canvas or equivalent.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness.

• Knowledge of the needs related to public education.
• Knowledge of Canvas learning management system.
• Knowledge of instructional design, effective pedagogy, and innovative learning methodologies.
• Program development skills.

• Ability to offer content courses to augment department curriculum at the undergraduate level.
• Ability to teach a wide variety of courses.

Compensation & Benefits

$3,465 - $3,675 per three-credit course, commensurate with experience

This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
