Job Description

This position will support the Office of Leadership & Engagement by leading efforts to provide educational programming for Fraternity and Sorority Life. The Student Development Coordinator, Senior will provide support for and oversight of Northern Arizona University fraternity and sorority events. As a member of the Leadership & Engagement team, the Coordinator Sr. will provide general support for student organizations, including event approvals, website and social media management, and program planning. Additionally, the position will be supervising, onboarding and supporting the front desk student worker staff for the Office of Leadership and Engagement and Dean of Students.

General FSL event planning and programming - 75%

• Lead educational program planning for Fraternity & Sorority Life chapters and councils.
• Coordinate trainings and developmental events to support Fraternity & Sorority Life in topics such as leadership, career development, alcohol education, diversity, equity and inclusion, anti-hazing, sexual misconduct, and more.
• Support Office of Leadership & Engagement in event planning, staffing and student organization development, and marketing/outreach.
• Collaborate with campus partners such as Health Promotion, Career Development, Alumni Engagement, Office of Inclusion, Athletics, and more.
• Launch and lead New Member Education program to build community and educate students on Greek community standards.
• Lead planning and coordination of Standards of Excellence program, Greek Leadership Summit, and Hazing Prevention Week.
• Supports campus-wide hazing prevention efforts as part of the federal Stop Campus Hazing Act.
• Support efforts to assist chapters/councils in utilization of the Greek Foundation Fund to support their programs and development.
• Provide support during CPC, IFC, and UGC recruitment.

Supervision - 15%

• Supervise Office of Leadership and Engagement and Dean of Students front desk student workers.
• Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the student support staff, including hiring and training; scheduling and prioritizing work assignments; and implementation of effective operating policies, procedures, and systems.
• Coordinates a structured feedback process regarding student worker performance and professional development.

General Leadership & Engagement - 10%

• Represent and assist the Office of Leadership and Engagement at departmental and University wide events including Club Fairs, Leadership Programs, Flannels and Flapjacks.
• Support advisor training implementation for student organization faculty/staff advisors
• Aid in reviewing student organization, chapter, and council event requests utilizing True Blue Connects
• Participate in departmental and campus-wide committees as appropriate; committee involvement may include Campus Life Communications Team, Lumberjack Welcome, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, etc.
• Support website management and social media content creation for the Office of Leadership and Engagement.
• Serve as a member of SpEAK Team
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience combination of training, education, and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of or experience working with and advising fraternities and sororities councils.
• Experience with risk management policies and education for student organizations on a collegiate level.
• A demonstrated knowledge of the needs of a diverse student community and a pulse on the changing demographic trends within higher education.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of issues and trends and best practices relevant to fraternities and sororities.
• Knowledge of higher education law, including FERPA, Title IX, etc.
• Knowledge of student conduct, crisis response, and behavior management.
• Knowledge of higher education law as it relates to student organizations and activities.

Skills

• Customer service skills.
• Understanding of student development theory.
• Develops and maintains good working relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Salary

Salary range begins at $51,085. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
