In this multi-level, multi-task position, the Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the management of services and supports provided by Y.E.S. The Arc for all consumers while ensuring his or her health, safety and well-being. The ED is also responsible for the overall supervision of all employees through the implementation and enforcement of all Y.E.S. The Arc Policies and Procedures and Y.E.S. The Arc’s Employee Handbook as well as all other agency guidelines and rules. In addition, the ED is responsible for ensuring that Y.E.S. The Arc remains in compliance with all contracts, insurance policies, and State and Federal laws and regulations. Above all, the Executive Director must be dedicated in every aspect of their position to Y.E.S. The Arc’s philosophy that all people are capable of growth and learning and that Y.E.S. The Arc exists to provide training and opportunities that will maximize growth towards the greatest independence possible for each consumer served. The position reports directly to Y.E.S. The Arc’s Board of Directors.
DUTIES
1. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all Y.E.S. The Arc’s consumers.
2. Demonstrate respect and promote choice for all of the consumers we support.
3. Act as an appropriate role model and support consumers in using appropriate language, dress, manners and respect.
4. Oversee all programs and services provided by Y.E.S. The Arc. Develop, recommend and implement approved short-term and long-term plans of operation for the agency.
5. Provide the management, support and interaction necessary to meet the expectations of each consumer and their parents, family and/or guardian while staying within the boundaries set forth by Y.E.S. The Arc and other governing entities.
6. Take a proactive approach in the betterment and success of Y.E.S. The Arc as a provider and employer. Continually search for new ideas and procedures that will increase the effectiveness of service provision to our consumers and the knowledge and skill levels of our employees.
7. Conduct monthly Board of Director’s meetings and special board meetings as necessary.
8. Develop and implement, with the Board of Directors approval, all Y.E.S. The Arc Policies and Procedures and the Employee Handbook. Review the policies and procedures annually for relevance and continued compliance with contractual obligations and State and Federal laws and regulations.
9. Develop, analyze and modify employee positions within Y.E.S. The Arc to meet appropriate staffing requirements (ratios) and consumer needs.
10. Participate in the recruitment and hiring of Y.E.S. The Arc employees.
11. Ensure that all employees receive the proper training and coaching needed for them to be successful in carrying out the duties of their position in accordance with all Y.E.S. The Arc Policies and Procedures.
12. Enforce the strict adherence of all Y.E.S. The Arc Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbook, guidelines and rules. Ensure the application of and approve appropriate disciplinary procedures for all infractions, up to and including terminations.
13. Keep an open door policy for the resolution of employee issues while verifying that the employee is adhering to the proper chain of command and agency policies and procedures.
14. Continually search for and secure additional funding sources through grant writing and other fund raising activities.
15. Ensure the financial security of Y.E.S. The Arc through responsible fiscal policies and practices.
16. Oversee and participate in the preparation of Y.E.S. The Arc’s annual budget. Monitor monthly and annual financial reports to ensure their accuracy and integrity.
17. Review and sign all payroll checks.
18. Obtain / Maintain and monitor all insurance policies including General Liability, Auto, Workmen’s Compensation, Health and Key Life.
19. Meet with and conduct admission case conferences with any prospective consumer and their parents, family and/or guardian.
20. Ensure proper communication between all agency programs and departments.
21. Through public relation efforts, promote and maintain a positive image of Y.E.S. The Arc as well as enlighten the local communities as to the attributes and abilities of the individuals that we serve / support.
22. Develop and maintain a good working relationship with DES/DDD and DES/RSA personnel to promote a positive environment in which to coordinate consumer services.
23. Negotiate contracts with local, State and Federal agencies. In conjunction with the Executive Assistant prepare all contract proposals.
24. Ensures agency compliance with all DES/DDD and other governing entities’ contractual and licensing requirements as well as local, State and Federal laws and regulations.
25. Must be present during all DES/DDD monitorings and attend the follow up reviews. Develop and implement all corrective actions as outlined and required by DES/DDD and monitor the ongoing compliance of any system based issues.
26. Ensure that all of the necessary records, logs and other documentation as required by Y.E.S. The Arc and other governing entities are maintained.
27. Directly supervise the Executive Assistant, Residential Coordinator, Vocational Program Coordinator, Human Resource Coordinator, Program Administrative Assistant, Day Program Supervisor and oversee the supervision of all other employees.
28. Monitor and conduct random inspections of all Y.E.S. The Arc facilities to ensure clean and safe environments are maintained.

30. Attend all mandatory meetings and required trainings.
31. Be available for urgent issues that may arise during regularly scheduled time off. Arrange for coverage with the Executive Assistant for periods of requested time off and/or if expecting to be out of town and unable to be physically present within one hour, if necessary.
32. Perform other duties and complete all other projects as may be assigned by Y.E.S. The Arc’s Board of Directors.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Must have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration or in one of the Behavioral Sciences or a related field with five (5) years supervisory experience working directly with individuals with disabilities; or
2. Have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of ten (10) years experience working directly with individuals with disabilities, with five (5) years supervisory experience.
3. Must have a professional and mature demeanor with excellent people and communication skills. Possessing a high regard for confidentiality is of utmost importance.
4. Must possess exceptional time management and organizational skills, be detail orientated and able to multi-task.
5. Be self-motivated, self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
6. Must be proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook; and have Internet usage experience.
7. Possess good typing and grammatical skills.
8. The ability to work flexible hours.
9. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
10. Must be fingerprinted and able to obtain and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
11. Must possess a valid Arizona Drivers License.
12. Must possess and maintain a clean 39-month driving record (no major traffic violations and not more than two minor traffic violations).
13. Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing.
14. Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry 35 lbs; stand and sit for extended periods; bend at the waist and knees; kneel for extended periods.
15. Must possess the ability to exercise restraint and self-control in potentially volatile situations, including, but not limited to, being confronted verbally and/or physically in a threatening or aggressive manner by the individuals receiving support. This also includes the ability to deal with and redirect aggressive behavior.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
The person in this position must attend and be able to pass the following trainings and maintain current certifications as required by Y.E.S. The Arc, DES/DDD and/or DES/RSA.

SCHEDULE
Standard Office Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with a one-hour lunch.
Flexible Hours: As needed to meet requirement of job duties.
