**Responsibilities**

The Senior Cardiac Sonographer at our hospital is responsible for performing advanced diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures, including echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, and other related imaging studies, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of echocardiography, ensuring high-quality imaging, and providing expert interpretation of results. The Senior Sonographer will collaborate closely with cardiologists and other medical professionals, mentor junior staff, and maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment. Additionally, they will ensure compliance with all hospital protocols and regulatory standards while staying updated on the latest advancements in cardiac imaging technology.

+ Prepares patients for examination. Maintains ECHO date archiving and recordkeeping.

+ Explains procedure to patient and/or family prior to and during examination.

+ Obtains clinical history relevant to examination and consult with referring physician regarding appropriate ultrasonic procedure.

+ Selects proper controls on machine, calibrates machine, and performs Echocardiography examination of diagnostic quality, visualizing and documenting as many cardiac structures as possible.

+ Utilizes ancillary devices (i.e.: cameras, video records, etc.) to obtain permanent record of examination.

+ Selects tracings for Cardiologist interpretation. Tracings will be measured and calculated prior to submission to Cardiologist for interpretation.

+ Notifies Cardiologist of test(s) to be interpreted in a timely manner. Assists in maintaining 36-hour interpretation turn-around time. Notifies Cardiologist of any unusual or possibly-abnormal tracing that, in the technologist's opinion, may need immediate attention.

+ Working with the medical director, medical staff, and technical staff to ensure quality patient care.

+ Maintains department records, including patient charts, files, tapes, etc., as well as departmental statistical information. Develops and revises ECHO reports.

+ Assists in other Cardiology procedures as needed.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Minimum:**

+ (3) years of experience as an echocardiography sonographer

+ Associates degree or higher level degree in related field and completion of echocardiography program

+ RCS - Must have and maintain valid CCI Registered Cardiac Sonographer or ARDMS Adult Echocardiography certification.

+ Must also have either CCI advanced cardiac sonographer or ARDMS pediatric sonographer certification

**Preferred:**

+ Bachelor's degree in related field

**Pay Range**

$42.69 - $61.91 /hour
