Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector has a need for a Software Engineering Manager 1 at its campus in Warner Robins, GA. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical ability and leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance.
As the Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the people, resources and processes required to deliver new software or upgrade existing products. You will also be responsible for the leadership of managing people, executing performance reviews, staffing programs, and career development of employees. Our engineering teams provide world-class engineering solutions to the sustainment and modernization of mission systems for our customers. Our programs include development, sustainment, and IR&D programs for systems that include aircraft self-protection systems, radar, and avionics. This position is a dual role position encompassing both technical leadership and performance as well as people leadership.
**Position Responsibilities:**
Technical Leadership and Performance:
+ Candidate will contribute technically to our current software programs. Technical responsibilities will include:
+ Develop, modify, and maintain software using software engineering best practices and standards.
+ Participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, software development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, and formal system testing.
+ Apply technical expertise in solving complex software and integration problems.
+ Candidate will be a thought leader for software engineering practices and modern software strategies for their team.
+ Candidate may assist software engineering department manager in reviewing proposals, white papers, and other new business initiatives.
People Leadership:
+ Lead a small software engineering team that supports multiple programs:
+ Set attainable goals.
+ Execute performance reviews.
+ Guide the employees regarding career development.
+ Support teams or individuals to improve performance and achieve goals through coaching and mentoring.
+ Provide flowdown and direction from upper management and the organization.
+ May assist software engineering department manager in executing, updating, and maintaining department procedures.
+ Support organizational engineering initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent STEM related discipline
+ Minimum of 5 years of direct relevant technical experience with B.S degree; Minimum of 3 years of direct relevant technical experience with M.S degree.
+ Proficient in C/C++ and/or Ada programming language
+ Proficient in all areas of formal software lifecycle process from requirements to formal testing
+ Interest in being a technical leader as well as a people manager.
+ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
+ Able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance per business requirements. US Citizenship is a requirement.
+ Must be able to work at location in Warner Robins, GA.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience as a lead engineer on software projects
+ Experience in object-oriented analysis and design
+ Experience programming in Ada
+ Experience using JIRA/Bitbucket and Smart Git
+ Experience with Electronic Warfare (EW) principles
+ Active Secret Security Clearance
**Salary Range:** $112,200 - $168,200
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
