**Where You Will Work **

Our rod and refining plant in El Paso, Texas, is a key contributor to our ranking as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of continuous cast copper rod – a main material used in the manufacturing of wire and cable products. The refinery has the potential to operate at an annual production capacity of about 900 million pounds of copper cathode, which is sufficient to refine all the copper anode we produce at our Miami operations in Arizona. The refinery also produces nickel carbonate, copper telluride and autoclaved slimes material containing gold, silver, platinum and palladium.

The beautiful city of El Paso features three universities, many community colleges and numerous schools. Some popular attractions include the International Museum of Art, National Border Patrol Museum and Franklin Mountain State Park. **What You Will Do**

Safely assist with maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders.

Assist Journeyman Mechanics with maintenance activities on transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors, torque converters, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or maintenance activities

Assists with and performs preventative maintenance activities on heavy equipment

Completes Work Orders and other maintenance documentation

Troubleshoot equipment problems

Performs housekeeping duties and work area checks

May operate equipment such as: forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment

Performs other duties as required

**What You Bring To Freeport**

+ Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

+ Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

+ Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ High School diploma or GED

+ Experience with maintenance activities including component diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: Upenders, rigidizers, mixers, compressors, overhead cranes, plumbing systems, pump systems, and hydraulic systems

+ Experience performing mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance by checking oil levels and changing oil, checks seals for leakage, grease, maintains compressors, checks filters ext

+ Experience with the removal, repair and installation of piping and pump components, such as: valves, expansion joints, and check valves

+ May operate mobile equipment such as: hydro lifts, mobile cranes, forklifts, man lifts, overhead cranes, and light duty vehicles.

+ Experience welding (Mig, Tig, and Stick) on structures (stairways, guards and handrails, ext.) and equipment (piping, cathode press, upender, ext.)

+ Knowledgeable of maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections and housekeeping

The estimated pay range for this role is currently **$19.00 - $26.00/hour** . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
