**Summary**
The Senior Power Dispatcher-AGC has the full authority and responsibility as a Balancing Authority Area Operator to operate SRP’s Balancing Authority Area safely, reliably and in full compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards and SRP Operating Practices and guidelines. This position is also responsible for the duties required for SRP to participate in organized energy markets. Additional responsibilities include an extensive knowledge of interconnected power system operations, competency with highly technical computer-based tools, and effective interaction with other utilities, SRP generating stations and SRP energy trading groups.
**What You'll Do**
+ Has full responsibility and authority to take the actions necessary to ensure safe and reliable Balancing Authority operation in compliance with NERC Reliability Standards.
+ Directs Balancing Authority Area operations in accordance with established NERC Reliability Standards and SRP operating procedures.
+ Performs all energy market-related tasks associated with the Balancing Authority Area.
+ Creates and modifies the current day power generation unit commitment plan and directs generating plant personnel as needed to implement the plan. Represents SRP with other NERC Functional Entities involving real-time operating issues.
+ Coordinates real-time maintenance outages on generation facilities.
+ Creates operating logs, load forecasts, and ensures real-time data is accurate. Provides on-the-job training for new Power Dispatchers-AGC. Performs outage coordination functions.
+ Develops, reviews, and approves Operating Practices. Supports Power Dispatcher training curriculum as a subject matter expert by developing and presenting training modules.
+ Serves as a Project Manager for special assignments.
**What It Takes To Succeed**
+ High school diploma or G.E.D. plus completion of formal apprenticeship such as lineman, electrician, or generation control room operator or 4 year bachelor of science/business degree. Must possess detailed knowledge of SRP transmission, sub transmission, and generation resources. Must possess knowledge of TGO control room grid control systems. Must possess knowledge of power contracts with other energy wholesale entities. Must possess knowledge of relay systems, control systems of generating plants and transmission system elements.
+ NERC system operator certification is required. NERC Certification shall be passed within 6 months of starting the position. This certification is required for all system operators to be compliant with NERC/WECC reliability standards. **Note; Individuals who fail to become NERC Certified, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.**
+ The TGO systems operator is subject to FERC and SRP "Codes of Conduct" and must comply with its confidentiality provisions. These documents define the relationships between SRP system operation's employees, SRP energy merchant employees and other market entities. Must have exceptional customer service skills. Deals directly with SRP's transmission customers and entities providing electric services to SRP's distribution customers. Have a direct impact on SRP's transmission sales revenue, ancillary svc revenue and SRP's goal of providing IT retail customers the ability to choose their electric energy supplier. Must have superior working knowledge of the SRP electric sub transmission system, interconnected transmission system/ supply and all infor etc...
**Experience**
Previous experience as AGC (Automatic Generation Control) dispatching (PDO-power dispatch office) energy scheduling coordination, or energy merchant operations.
**Hybrid Workplace**
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
