POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for guiding data-driven decision-making across Banner through leading all consumer research and insights across the enterprise, including leading the team that analyzes data and insights related to patient and member experiences. Oversees marketing and communications research and analytics, competitive and market trend analysis, campaign performance reporting, and the operational efficiency of the marketing department. With a focus on leveraging data and technology along with collaborating with multiple stakeholders from across the enterprise to drive strategic outcomes, this role plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission and enhancing its impact across multiple regions and markets. Leads contract management and vendor selection processes in these areas. Leads marketing operations for the entire marketing function, supporting the senior Marketing Officer in efficient and effective marketing operations, including budget, contract and policy management, and development and oversight of cross-functional teamwork leveraging system platforms.

CORE FUNCTIONS

Consumer Insights and Research

1. Leads the development and execution of consumer research initiatives that uncover actionable insights about patient and member behaviors, preferences, and expectations. Ensures comprehensive data collection, analysis and reporting of patient and members surveys and then collaborates with other enterprise stakeholders to assist in driving improvements for satisfaction and engagement.

2. Collaborates with marketing, clinical, and operational leadership to incorporate consumer insights into brand and service line strategies and community outreach efforts. Presents findings and actionable recommendations to senior leadership, aligning insights with organizational goals and strategies, including collaborating with system teams responsible for annual and long-term organizational KPI’s to drive customer experience improvements.

Market Analytics and Reporting

3. Utilizes third-party data sources to provide deep market intelligence across all regions and markets, identifying trends, competitive positioning, and opportunities for service expansion, and provides detailed competitive intelligence reports, highlighting market share, emerging competitors, and shifts in consumer behavior.

4. Establishes a comprehensive analytics framework to track and interpret key market and consumer data across all regions translating findings into actionable strategies for leadership, then partners with marketing leaders to refine strategies based on performance data, optimizing campaigns for better outcomes.

Campaign Performance and KPI Management

5. Collaborates with creative and digital teams to ensure campaigns are measurable against pre-defined KPIs that align with business objectives, then provides detailed analysis of campaign performance, identifying key drivers of success and areas for improvement. Creates and maintains real-time dashboards to track and report on marketing performance metrics, including ROI on campaigns, digital engagement, and lead conversion rates. Presents regular performance updates to executive leadership, offering strategic recommendations based on data insights.

Marketing Operations

6. Drives operational excellence through developing and enforcing consistent policies and procedures to ensure compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness in marketing operations, and optimizes the use of technology tools to streamline workflows, improve collaboration, and ensure transparency.

7. Maintains vendor relationships (including contract negotiation) and ensures seamless management of contracts, budgets, policies, and workflows, and partners with finance teams to track and manage the marketing budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and adherence to financial goals.

Compliance and Data Privacy

8. Ensures that all data collection, analysis, and reporting adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA. Collaborates with IT and legal teams to establish protocols for data security and privacy. Stays informed about regulatory changes affecting healthcare analytics and marketing operations, adapting strategies and processes accordingly.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

9. Stays ahead of emerging trends and technologies in analytics, marketing operations, and healthcare research. Leads the adoption of new tools and methodologies that enhance the organization’s ability to understand and respond to consumer and market needs. Encourages a culture of innovation within the team, identifying opportunities for process improvements and creative problem-solving.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in consumer research, consumer experience, analytics, and insights, and/or marketing operations, with a strong preference for experience in large, complex, healthcare systems and health plans.

Proven track record of leveraging consumer insights and market analytics to inform strategic decisions in a healthcare, retail, or service-oriented industry.

Demonstrated experience with patient/member experience surveys, competitive research, and the integration of third-party data into actionable strategies.

Hands-on experience in campaign performance analysis, KPI tracking, and managing marketing performance dashboards.

Expertise in marketing operations, including budget management, vendor negotiation, and implementing operational workflows, preferably using platforms like Workfront.

Advanced proficiency in analytics platforms and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Analytics).

Strong ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for diverse audiences, from technical teams to executive leadership.

Exceptional understanding of healthcare market dynamics, including patient behavior, competitor positioning, and regulatory requirements.

Demonstrated strong financial stewardship through highest and best allocation of Banner’s marketing budgets and resources.

Demonstrated successful management of contracted agencies and vendors in the planning, execution and delivery of desired results and maximum value to client.

Strategic thinker with the ability to align analytics and operations initiatives with long-term organizational goals.

Strong project management skills with a focus on improving efficiency and accountability through operational excellence.

Expertise in marketing technologies and platforms, with the ability to identify and implement tools that enhance team productivity and insights.

Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of fostering partnerships driving alignment across departments, including IT, marketing, finance, and clinical operations.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights clearly and persuasively to non-technical audiences.
