**The Opportunity**

As the Paralegal - Dispute Resolution, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively and under direction of an attorney to aid the Dispute Resolution Group by supporting attorney efforts in informal disputes, formal claims, and litigation.

**The Team**

**Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement** consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

**Key Responsibilities**

+ Draft legal documents, conduct research, fact gathering, file organization and investigation.

+ Provide support on special projects and present findings and opinions to supervising attorneys.

+ Develop, maintain and manage information retrieval processes for various specialty practice areas.

+ Conduct legal research and analyze laws, regulations, and legal articles to assist in the preparation of reports, legal arguments, and case strategies

+ Respond directly to requests from outside counsel, insurers and other stakeholders.

+ Manage large-scale discovery and e-discovery matters, including document preservation, collection, and production.

+ Analyze data and clarify factual and legal issues to recommend appropriate actions to supervising attorneys.

+ Interact and communicate on a professional level with various internal business groups and outside counsel as legal projects and tasks dictate; may coordinate and facilitate project-based communications regarding the discovery process, due diligence or other formal procedural matters requiring a high level of responsibility.

+ Review, categorize, organize, track and maintain information and legal documents within our matter management system.

**Minimum Qualifications**

+ High School Diploma or equivalent certification required.

+ 5+ years corporate law or paralegal experience required

+ Experience reviewing and redlining contracts

+ Corporate registration experience required

+ All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's Degree preferred.

+ Advanced skill and expertise in litigation, claims and disputes.

+ Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both as a team member and independently.

+ Able to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

+ Minimum of ten (10) years of experience performing paralegal work in a legal environment under the direct supervision of a duly licensed attorney.

+ Certification from a State Bar, Board of Legal Specialization, CLA/CP certification and/or PACE certification preferred. A certificate of completion from an ABA approved program of education and training for paralegals OR; a certificate of completion from a paralegal program administered by any college, university, or institution accredited or approved by the Kansas Board of Regents or its equivalent in another state a plus.

+ A combination of education and certifications may be considered in lieu of experience.
