As an Accounting Systems Analyst Intern, you will assist the accounting team in analyzing, optimizing, and supporting the accounting systems used for financial reporting, tracking, and analysis. You will gain exposure to accounting software, databases, and system integration, providing valuable insights for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes.
This internship starts on June 2nd and will run for at least 10 weeks.
This is a fully onsite internship located at our corporate campus in Midtown Phoenix.
Key Responsibilities:
+ System Analysis and Optimization:
+ Assist in reviewing and evaluating existing accounting systems and software to identify inefficiencies or potential improvements.
+ Work with team members to enhance accounting processes, system workflows, and automation to improve accuracy and efficiency.
+ Support the integration of new accounting tools or software into the existing system.
+ Data Management and Reporting:
+ Help ensure accurate data entry into the accounting systems.
+ Assist in preparing custom reports and data analysis to support financial decision-making.
+ Monitor data flow between different financial systems, ensuring consistency and accuracy across platforms.
+ System Troubleshooting and Support:
+ Provide support to the accounting team by troubleshooting minor issues within the accounting systems.
+ Work with IT teams to resolve more complex system-related problems.
+ Assist in testing new system features, upgrades, or patches and ensure they align with accounting requirements.
+ Documentation and Training:
+ Help document system processes, workflows, and procedures to ensure transparency and compliance.
+ Assist in creating training materials or guides for accounting staff to use the systems more efficiently.
+ Conduct training sessions for new or existing staff to familiarize them with system updates or new features.
+ Project Assistance:
+ Support special projects related to accounting system improvements or implementations.
+ Collaborate with team members to gather requirements for new system functionalities.
+ Assist in performing system audits and data validation checks to ensure data integrity.
+ Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:
+ Work closely with the accounting and IT departments to align system capabilities with accounting needs.
+ Help facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure system functionality meets organizational objectives.
Skills and Qualifications:
+ Education:
+ Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
+ Skills:
+ Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
+ Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite) is a plus.
+ Knowledge of system analysis and data modeling concepts is beneficial.
+ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
+ Basic knowledge of databases and SQL (Structured Query Language) is a plus.
+ Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
+ Good communication skills and ability to present findings to non-technical users.
