Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to participate in our interview process for an Accounts Payable Technician role!
The Accounts Payable Technician performs paraprofessional accounting work such as review of invoices, vendor maintenance, vendor payments and reconciliations. This position compiles data and generates reports to meet monthly and annual filing deadlines. Incumbents are responsible for reviewing and approving payment documents for compliance with applicable policies and procedures, as well as training staff on fiscal policies, procedures, and systems. The primary responsibilities of this position include:
+ Processes employee travel expenses, petty cash reimbursements, purchase order invoices, check, wire, and ACH requisitions timely and accurately in accordance with Town policies, state laws, and federal regulations;
+ Reviews all payment types for proper accounting which includes interpreting and applying accounting standards for financial reporting to properly classify the expenditure;
+ Process and reconcile purchase card payables;
+ Monitor purchases for compliance with IRS regulations and Town policies;
+ Review W-9 tax forms and interpret correct filing status;

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with time being split between telecommuting from home and working in the office. Telecommuting privileges are approved at the sole discretion of the supervisor and department management; as such, the department reserves the right to modify or discontinue telecommuting arrangements at any point.
This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt – eligible for overtime compensation.

+ At least one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance;
+ 2 years of experience running full cycle Accounts Payable for a large organization and internal and external customer service;
+ 2 years of combined education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;
+ Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations;
+ Knowledge of bookkeeping and customer service principles and practices;
+ Experience with electronic vendor payments;
+ Skill in conducting research and solving problems.
