**About This Role**

Provide Voice and Applications Engineering support for Windstream’s network and system architectures. This includes the implementation and management of new and existing Class 4 and Class 5 voice switching networks. The engineer will also be responsible for management of system applications that support the various switching networks. The engineer must understand complex local and long distance voice switching architectures. The engineer must have the ability to provide next level technical support for both customer provisioning teams and customer repair teams. The engineer should be able to provide technical support in areas above and beyond Voice and Applications Engineering, where applicable. The engineer must have sound project management and organizational skills.

**What You’ll Do**

+ Network translations for complex Local and Long Distance switching networks.

+ The ability to perform Line and Trunk side TDM/VoIP provisioning for both Class 4 and Class 5 switching networks.

+ The engineer should be fluent in the various voice signaling protocols, to include ISDN, SS7 (ISUP, TCAP), and SIP (SIP, SDP, RTP).

+ Code and Routing administration for at least 2 of the following platforms: 5ESS, DMS, Genband C3, Meta CFS, SONUS PSX, PLEXUS MGC, Broadworks NS, DRM, GTD-5, DCO, EWSD, Cisco UCCH/IPCC.

+ Market Expansion and Network Growth projects to include: Rate Center additions, LATA additions, Class 4&5 Network Interconnections, Billing and Mediation

+ Personalized Solutions: Ability to work with customer provisioning and sales teams to personalize technical solutions that leverage our existing network assets.

+ Provide next level support to customer provisioning, customer repair, Network Operations, and other Engineering teams.

+ On-Call availability for afterhours support and escalation

+ Creation and Management of procedural documentation

+ Project management, ability to work with other teams, mentor lower level engineers, and help the department accomplish common goals.

+ Other duties may be assigned on a per need basis.

**Do You Have?**

+ Minimum ten years of telecommunications experience in complex voice switching networks.

+ Bachelor Degree Telecommunications, or equivalent too.

**Even Better**

+ The individual must have the ability to understand complex telecommunications switching networks.

+ The individual will actively participate in a wide variety of duties requiring considerable judgment to work independently such as devising new methods, adapting or changing standard procedures to meet new conditions, and making decisions guided by precedent and within established policies.

+ Understanding technical documentation is very important to the job.

+ Objectives will be defined for the engineers, but they’ll be required to research various reference sources to determine the means to accomplish the goal.

+ Clear writing skills are also important to document process & procedure along with switch configuration.

+ The individual must be flexible and patient as they will need to provide next level support to various groups.

+ This support requirement can pull them away from other work and is usually unplanned.

+ The ability to communicate clearly and share ideas on improving processes is a must.

**SPECIAL CONCERNS**

+ Engineers are required to participate in afterhours on-call escalations.

The starting compensation range for this job is $90,700 to $121,400.
