As a Facilities Project Engineer, based in Tucson, AZ, you are responsible for the success of a facility management services program at our client site at the University of Arizona Tech Park. The Project Engineer will perform as an agent for the company and support for the Program Manager. Position includes client interaction with the intent to sustain and improve customer satisfaction. Each day, you will represent JACOBS and our client as you take responsibility for ensuring that all safe work practices are being followed by the staff and contractors working on the client site and will have considerable responsibility in the operations and infrastructure of the facilities. You should be a self-motivated professional with a minimum 10-year engineering and project management experience and have a desire to grow personally, as well as professionally, with each Project.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Are part of a team responsible for safe work practices of both JACOBS staff and subcontractors which includes implementation of JACOBS Beyond Zero program.

• Are excellent communicators and effective people leaders! Solid experience managing contractor teams and staff with proven ability to motivate.

• Have experience evaluating, designing and managing projects related to facilities infrastructure.

• Are project engineering professionals, capable of succeeding in cost controls, budgeting, scoping, planning, estimating, procurement, scheduling, change management, tracking, contractor dispute resolution, and engineering leadership of Plant Operators, Technicians and other Project staff.

• Provide inspection of facilities and work; planning, programming, and scheduling; repair and maintenance; quality control; preventative maintenance.

• Cost control; records, reports, contract compliance; procurement; subcontracting.

• Are responsible for coordination of work priorities and monitoring of methods and procedures to improve cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

• Coordinate, manage and create reports of utility cost allocations for the site. Utility cost allocations includes review of metering data, review of utility invoices, manage a computer program to allocate costs and review reports.

• Monitor and track utilities to include projected rates and rate adjustments. Review utility rate structures and apply to achieve the best site operations.

• Consult with plant operations to provide reliable utilities to the site while providing the lowest possible utility costs and consumption.

• Coordinate, develop expansion and help manage the SCADA system used to monitor and control the equipment.

• Have authority to negotiate change orders, new work and subcontracts with management and subcontractors as required.

• Develop, cost estimate, manage, present to management and adjust the 10 year plan for site projects

• Provide engineering support for direct recurring repairs, service, maintenance work, and resolve technical problems.

• Monitor cost control, financial reports, budgeting, and overall project costs.

• Support management in Monitoring and inspecting maintenance, repair and service operations for quality control and contract compliance.

• Provide engineering or coordinate engineering for project designs and major equipment repair projects

• Assist in developing contingency plans, emergency operation, safety, fire prevention and property maintenance management plans in concert with owner's plan.

• Have strong technical knowledge of facilities maintenance and operations, including HVAC, SCADA, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.

Minimum 10 years of engineering experience including design, project engineering, facilities engineering, SCADA management, operations and maintenance of facilities and project management.

Experience with 24/7 facilities, server rooms or other institutional facilities. (Other industrial and heavy commercial experience will be considered).

5 years of supervisory, design professional of record or project management experience.

Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical ideal) from four-year college or university.

Valid Driver’s License.

Ability to pass background check and drug test.

Ideally, You'll Also Need:

A Registered Professional Engineer license in State of Arizona (or another state with the ability to get reciprocity in Arizona)

Experienced with Rockwell SCADA systems

Encouraged by providing work for contractors and team members
