Grinder I
Duties/Responsibilities:
Loads, unloads, stops, and starts manual and or CNC tool & cutter grinding machines.
Performs repeat setups. Listens to machine during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull (in need of dressing) grinding wheels.
Measures dimensions of finished pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and fixtures.
Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
Dress grinding wheels according to specifications.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to operate various type of type of machines such as surface grinders, monoset, CNC tool & cutter grinding machines and or manual grinding machines as well as their maintenance.
Must have basic knowledge of various cutting tools, (end mills, drills, form tool, etc.), used in machining.
Knowledge of blueprint reading, calipers, micrometers, and basic trigonometry or math skills is a must. Ability to use math to solve problems. Knowledge of GDT.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
A minimum 1-3 years of experience working with common cutting tool materials.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 35 lbs. Ability to hear.
