We are looking to add a talented and forward-thinking Principal Engineer to our test support team in Phoenix, Arizona. This position is for a seasoned professional who will be responsible for maintaining automated production test equipment used for the testing of complex, electronic aerospace control products. This candidate will be part of a team responsible for providing technical support and oversight of test systems running in our Phoenix, AZ. production site. This role may be eligible for relocation.
**What You Will Do**
+ Engineering support for electronic end-item testing.
+ Manage engineering changes into work packages.
+ Strong focus on maintaining internal and external customer satisfaction and quality.
+ Reports functionally to test equipment sustainment manager, located in Rockford, IL. while interfacing with both the Windsor Locks, CT and Rockford Test Engineering design teams.
+ Assisting the PHX test technicians while interactively troubleshooting test issues will take place on site.
+ Use troubleshooting skills to determine root cause and corrective action of production test failures, both electronic hardware and software.
+ This position requires the ability to interpret test requirements that define both the hardware I/O and embedded software details of the unit under test, as well as the test procedure and measurement boundaries used to determine successful test results.
+ Communicate effectively with team members as well as internal & external customers.
+ Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment that includes project, circuit, software, requirements, manufacturing, and product engineers.
+ Effective use of problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
+ Data analysis/investigation in support of robustness and yield improvement activities.
+ Support of plant site initiatives such as total productive maintenance and digital factory.
+ Ability to write scripts to data mine test failures, that will be used for root cause analysis, tracking/reporting test yield and production presentations.
**Qualifications You Must Have**
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience **or** an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
+ Experience with electronic test
**Qualifications We Prefer**
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
+ MS Office applications, Windows/LINUX/UNIX operating systems,
+ Software skills, primarily using LabView, HTBasic and HPVee test software.
+ Familiarity with IEEE-488, VME, VXI, & PXI instrumentation under PC control.
+ Familiarity with standard communications busses/protocols such as RS232/422/485, IEEE1394, Mil-Std-1553, ARINC429, ARINC629, Ethernet, CAN Bus.
+ Hardware/software integration with a good understanding of analog, digital, and power electronics circuits design and analysis.
+ Familiarity with embedded test software concepts.
+ Strong H/W and S/W troubleshooting skills.
+ Interfacing with outside suppliers to manage any instrument investigation/repair, or outsourced work.
+ Experience using basic electronic instruments - scopes, meters, etc..
+ Ability to write scripts to data mine test failures that will be used for root cause analysis, tracking/reporting yield and production presentations.
+ 7+ years of experience as an electrical engineer and experience with software troubleshooting preferred

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
