**Your Opportunity**

The Principal, Commissioning Consultant brings deep building commissioning engineering and integrated team delivery experience and relationships in the A/E industry to contribute to the overall strategic and tactical leadership of the Stantec commissioning team, helping to grow and lead the existing commissioning practice in the US West and beyond. This position will lead strategic projects, be client facing, responsible for business development, contribute to project delivery standards and work processes, provide quality control, workload forecasting, financial performance accountability and collaboration with other disciplines. Principal supports business development including but not limited to establishing new business, maintaining existing accounts, reviewing proposals, client management and participating in projects where technical or client advisement/oversight is needed. The principal contributes to differentiating Stantec from other competing firms, and positions Stantec as innovators in the industry.

**Your Key Responsibilities**

* Be a primary contributor to the growth of Stantec’s Buildings Commissioning practice in the US West.

* Interface regularly with additional commissioning leaders in North America and contribute within the US West specialty services practice.

* Develop strategic and tactical business development and marketing plans for the commissioning practice and align with Business Center and regional Buildings group goals and strategies and brand position priorities.

* Sustain and grow top line revenue helping to achieve growth objectives in the US West and work collaboratively with the Regional Business Leader, Business Center Practice Leaders, and other Commissioning leaders in US to achieve key operational performance metrics.

* Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients in the local and regional Commissioning industry.

* Assist with the development of the annual business plan and budget for the business center and working with the leadership team to achieve key performance indicators.

* Develop presentation materials and present to clients and at strategic industry events.

* Represent the firm through published articles, public speaking engagements and attendance at industry and community events, meetings, and conferences.

* Develop project proposals.

* Assist the marketing department with the development of commissioning marketing materials and content.

Business Development/Marketing:

People and Practice Management

* Help hire and lead a team consisting of commissioning engineers and project managers

* In conjunction with other stakeholders, identify and forecast staff needs and assignments based on current and projected workload and SME requirements.

* Hold project team members accountable for technical excellence, delivery standards, and best practices.

* Responsible for managing the financial performance, quality control processes, and project delivery for mission critical projects.

* Ensure compliance with best practices, including Stantec PM Frameworks Project Involvement.

Project Design and Delivery

* Work with PM's and SMEs on key projects to develop and deliver commissioning specifications, presentations, reports, and other deliverables.

* Successfully lead projects of significant scope, complexity, and revenue budget.

* Apply buildings commissioning and project management knowledge while leading cross-functional resources to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets.

* Meet technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary and client service objectives for projects.

* Apply strong engineering skills, experience and knowledge to the oversight of the commissioning process for building projects.

* Manage and plan the production resources and workflow to produce the deliverables and onsite scope required for commissioning projects

* Act as a QC reviewer on specific projects.

Technical Leadership

* Serves as a Lead Commissioning Agent and internal technical expert on assigned projects.

* Reviews commissioning deliverables to meet project requirements

* Applies strong engineering skills and knowledge to research and develop solutions to complex engineering challenges.

* Supports project requirements by overseeing and sometimes performing the execution of the commissioning process from the pre-design phase through post occupancy phase

* Collaborates with project managers and supports commissioning staff as part of a coordinated team.

* Manages and/or actively participates in the development of junior level staff through work on projects as well as serving as a trainer, mentor, and resource.

* Maintain awareness of operational, technical, or regulatory changes within the buildings commissioning market sector and AEC community overall, disseminate such knowledge to staff and firm, and integrate into existing processes and standards.

* Oversee the maintenance and updating of commissioning specifications, technical documentation, and standards in collaboration with other senior technical resources in Stantec.

* Oversee commissioning delivery process and best practices and coordinate with other disciplines.

* Provide oversight for commissioning staff education and certification process & balance firm, studio and staff needs.

* Learning/Maintaining and Expanding Technical and Managerial Skills:

* Maintain current knowledge of technologies and trends impacting Stantec's core service offerings and markets and continually strengthens skills.

* Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards.

* A commanding knowledge of technical issues supporting delivered commissioning services.

* Deep technical understanding and working knowledge of buildings systems, including Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and Control Systems.

* Strong knowledge of buildings communities including architects, engineers, contractors, and facilities, both stakeholders and key decision-makers.

* Deep understanding of and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.

* Outstanding consulting skills with ability to present a credible, engaging image in keeping with Stantec’s high service standards.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and polished presentation and public speaking skills.

* Deep knowledge of either power or cooling systems.

* Experience in identifying and managing items of risk that may occur on projects.

* Ability to identify and manage potential unanticipated scope.

* Successful history of collaboration with contractors for various types of commissioning projects such as new build, additions, renovations, retro-commissioning, re-commissioning.

* Travel may be required to meet engagement/client requirements; may include regional, national, or international based on the contracted requirement

* Must have all required travel documents.

* Must have valid driver’s license and a clean DMV record.

**Education and Experience**

* Bachelor's degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

* 10 years related professional experience.

* Commissioning Certification required

* Management Professional certification a plus.

* LEED AP Credential a plus.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

**Pay Range:**

* Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 124,800.00 - Max Salary $ 187,200.00

* Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary $ 147,300.00 - Max Salary $ 220,900.00

**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
