**SMX** is seeking a skilled **Buyer** to support procurement operations in a dynamic contractual environment **.** This remote role reports to the Purchasing Director and is responsible for compiling, awarding, and executing purchase orders for materials, supplies, equipment, and services in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Buyer will follow established guidelines while proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Obtains materials, supplies, equipment, and services of a difficult nature from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need.
+ Contact suppliers, obtain quotations, examine bids, make awards, places orders, and expedite delivery.
+ Negotiate terms and price with subcontractors.
+ Follows up on all awards until completion of order.
+ Negotiates and settles with vendors regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, overages, cancellations, and other changes.
+ Primary liaison between employees or customer personnel and suppliers to answer questions and resolve problems.
+ May review files of peers for compliance with Smartronix procedures.
+ Communicate with internal stakeholders about procurement requirements.
+ Reviews of non-competitive justifications for sufficiency.
+ Prepares price analyses mainly using adequate price competition.
+ Prepares procurement files compliant with Smartronix procedures.
**Required Education and Experience:**
+ Bachelor's degree in related discipline plus 2 or more years of directly related experience in a Federal Government contracting environment. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 7 years applicable work experience.
+ Experience working in an approved purchasing system (CPSR) environment.
+ Experience working with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
+ Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
+ Proficient with MS Word and Excel; Costpoint experience a plus.
+ Experience with category management a plus.
**US Citizenship required for work under DoD contracts.**

The proposed salary for this position is:
$60,600—$80,700 USD
