Senior Network Engineer

The Networking team at vCORE is responsible for providing a simple, secure, software-defined backbone that enables enterprises of any size to communicate end to end. vCORE seeks a Senior Network Engineer with a strong knowledge of Cisco ACI (multi-site, multi-pod, contracts, micro-segmentation, L4-L7 service insertion, etc.) and related Data Center underly/overlay networking technologies. This role involves designing, implementing, migrating, and managing software-defined networking (SDN) solutions. Experience with data center technologies and concepts (platforms, virtualization, storage, networking, administration, compute, etc.) is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

+ Responsible for the delivery of Cisco ACI planning, design, implementation & optimization services as a post-sales consultant to vCORE's clients.

+ Will create low-level and high-Level designs of data center networks utilizing industry best practices and vCORE sold network solutions.

+ Provide advanced network implementation, support, and troubleshooting services.

+ Maintain consistent contact with client staff to ensure that services conform to client requirements.

+ Provide a broad range of services in assessing the client's network requirements, including routing and switching, security, and wireless technologies.

+ Engage with other engineering resources to provide the appropriate resolution for clients. Services include in-depth knowledge of the client's infrastructure and configurations.

+ Engineer and research technology based upon capacity or functionality requirements for routing and switching, security, and wireless.

+ Implement tactical plans to meet timelines and ensure minimal disruption to the client environment.

+ Assist with the development of documentation for standards requirements within the department.

+ Maintain complete technical documentation.

+ Assist with improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability.

What You’ll Need

+ Bachelors Degree or higher -OR- 10+ years of professional work experience

+ 5+ years experience supporting complex Cisco networks

+ Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to work well in a collaborative and dynamic environment

+ Skilled in using Visio and other network documentation software

+ SD-WAN (Velocloud, Viptela) implementation and migration experience

+ Experience with logical design models (L2/L3, VPC, VDC, Datacenter Zones, Spanning tree, VFR, VTP, VLANs, physical cabling)

+ Working technical knowledge of network control protocols (QOS, PfR, PoE, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP), and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA, IPSec, TustSec)

+ Strong knowledge of IP communication and routing is required (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)

+ Understanding of WAN/LAN and transport technologies (Ethernet, IPSEC, and MPLS)

+ Configuration management experience with networking devices using automation tools (DNA-Center, Cisco Prime) and API scripting with Python

Preferred Experience

+ Cisco Certifications (CCDP, CCVP, CSSIP); CCNP or CCIE

+ Cisco partner with post-sales consulting experience

+ Deployment experience with Cisco ACI, Cisco Nexus 9K

+ Deployment experience with Vxlan, MP-BGP is a plus

+ Hands-on experience with planning and executing medium to large data center migration

+ Knowledge or experience in F5 load balancing, Palo Alto technologies, Juniper MX/EX, Cisco Firepower

+ Knowledge or experience with inter-company routing
