Position: Drafter II Metal & Glass

Location: Kovach Headquarters; Chandler, AZ.

Reports to: Drafting Manager

Summary: Kovach is looking for a dedicated Drafter II for Metal and Glass to execute the direction of the Job Captains and Technical Project Manager in creating shop drawings and releases for Façade Systems. Drafter II should be able to act more independently once given direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Drafting Essential Functions
Use architectural drawings to create accurate shop drawings that incorporate the systems bid by Kovach.
Create material takeoff for Bill of Materials for all systems required.
Create cultists and fabrication drawings for the shop that comply with installation instructions for all systems.
Create any required unit drawings and details for field conditions as required.
Label shop drawings so the shop and field have reference for all components that are to be field installed.
Submit all releases for checking prior to releasing to the shop or field.
Verify all releases packages are accurate and complete prior to releasing to the shop.
Responsible for keeping project organized as far as drawings, materials, and record keeping.
Innovate Coordinate potential value engineering ideas with Job Captain or TPM.
Communicate: Maintain continuous communication with Job Captain.
Accept Direction: Work at the direction of Job Captain or TPM while following department protocols for all processes.
Other Duties as assigned: Assist Job Captain and TPM in any miscellaneous items which may come up.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with computer-aided design (CAD) software.

+ Translate conceptual ideas into formal designs by utilizing your expertise in design principles, materials, and fabrication techniques.

+ Follow guidance from a team of engineers, engineering technicians and other leaders while effectively managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks efficiently.

+ Create shop drawings and designs for production and manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering required or equivalent experience.

+ 5+ years of experience shop drawings / detailing required .

+ Experience in welding/fabrication project management with a good understanding of how other trades impact the work scope and scheduling of the shop teams.

+ Ability to manage multiple projects varying in size and complexity required.

+ Working knowledge of OSHA regulations

+ Responsible for understanding and following ASME codes and standards, audits, inspections, record keeping and ensuring recertification.

+ Ability to facilitate troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts and team meetings.

+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

+ Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Project, Word, Excel, Outlook).

What you’ll do as a Drafter Designer

+ Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications/software

+ Develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks

Duties:

+ Creates erection drawings with Computer Aided Drafting software to be used in both custom and standard projects as assigned by direct reports. Works closely with all key personnel to ensure that drawings convey the correct information and are error free.

+ Generates detailed mechanical drawings with Computer Aided Drafting software for manufacturing and warehouse applications.

+ Enters equipment lists as needed for projects. Makes adjustments appropriately.

+ Acts in a liaison capacity with warehouse to troubleshoot assembly problems. Reviews with Checker, District Engineer, Corporate Production Engineer or other management personnel as needed.

+ Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Additional drafting or education, a plus. General construction knowledge along with ability to read and interpret blueprints desired.
