You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Basic Requirements: Individual Occupational Requirement You must possess the technician experience that requires application of knowledge, methods, and techniques of the Medical Care Transportation Technician. Grade Level GS-9 Requirements: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-8 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing transportation of patients; Responding to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and/or illness; Administering basic and advanced life support care. Certification: Possess and maintain current Basic Life Support Provider certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. Possess a Paramedic License. Physical Requirements: The Medical Care Transportation Technician work involves extended periods of heavy moving and lifting of patients in a variety of situations. Paramedics may be required to spend prolonged periods in protective breathing apparatus and protective clothing during chemical, nuclear, biological, or hazardous materials incidents/ exercises.
