    **TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

    + Maintain working technical proficiency on FOMS, FieldSmart, AutoCAD, Excel, and other software applications as needed

    + Prepare and/or coordinate construction design drawings and cost estimates

    Job Description:

    The Engineering Technician will work under the guidance of the manufacturing engineer or site lead for the manufacturing build of the I2 Tube intensifiers. The candidate will contribute to the company’s success by performing a variety of engineering work in the development, improvement, and optimization of multiple processes and techniques utilized in the manufacture of I2 tubes, including vacuum deposition of inorganic and metallic films, glass processing, chemical etching and handling, materials analysis, and characterization. The work will involve improving and optimizing current processes and materials targeting increased new image intensifier capabilities, manufacturing yield, and/or reduced variance. Emphasis will be in improvement of component performance, implementing manufacturing standard work, best practices, and developing optimized process recipes and methodologies.

    Success in this role will be measured by the timely improved process development and supporting implementation of new processes into production, resulting in cost-savings associated with reduced tool down time, improved component level yield, and/or enhanced product performance.

    Essential Functions:

    + Qualify, setup, and audit process equipment using written work instructions

    + Perform process verification metrology or inspection steps for each process step performed based on classified data

    + Perform calculations to determine process conditions and transfer SPC data into manufacturing dashboard

    + Perform documented out of control action plans (OCAPs) for processes failing SPC limits

    + Identify process and/or equipment issues and escalate to the appropriate issue owner

    + Document and escalate quality and procedural non-conformances to the appropriate issue owner

    + Perform design of experiment (DOEs) tests defined by Process Engineering counterparts

    + Identify process improvement ideas and work with Process Engineering to test and implement them

    + Perform on-the-job training for manufacturing technicians to increase process technical knowledge

    + Support and follow instructions from area engineer

    + Maintain a safe and organized work environment

    **Job Responsibilities**

    + Lead the post-processing operations of 3D-printed models.

    + Train team members on the post-processing tasks required to produce quality 3D-printed models.

    + Operate 3D Printing equipment to start prints and perform routine and rotational maintenance on a regular schedule to produce highly accurate medical device prototypes in a timely manner.

    + Provide effective communication with BD (leaders & coworkers) and external partners daily.

    + Understands the “what/when/why/how/who” for all post-processing procedures. Drives process enhancement/optimization and oversees changes to finishing processes and procedures.

    + Clean and post-process 3D-printed models via hand finishing and secondary processes such as ultrasonic cleaning, sandblasting, water blasting, hand sanding, polishing, and painting while maintaining accuracy and visual aesthetics.

    + Clean 3D Printed models according to defined standard operating procedures.

    + Under the direction of the 3D Printing and Prototyping Manager, define, perform, and present results for R&D of 3D printing applications and be able to function independently.

    + Maintain proficiency in manipulating model files using CAD software (i.e. - Magics by Materialise or OEM-supplied software programs) to verify geometries before building/finishing.

    + Use precision measurement devices (i.e. – digital calipers, Keyence, GOM) to ensure dimensional accuracy.

    + Maintain finishing supplies in the laboratory and evaluate special supplies, techniques, and equipment that may be beneficial for quality model finishing.

    + Work in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices; observe all BD Safety and Quality Standards and maintain laboratory notebook according to BD Standard Operating Procedures. Ensures that all safety needs, including training, are met.

    + Wear proper safety equipment where required and ensure others comply with BDTI safety standards.

    + Actively utilize the Digital Engineering database to update progress on ongoing jobs and prioritize business unit requests.

    **Education and Experience**

    + High School Diploma Required plus 6 years relevant hands-on industry experience with proven ability to perform model finishing, industrial 3D printer operation, experimentation, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

    + BS plus 3 years of relevant industry experience

    + Experience operating 3D printing equipment is required. Examples include stereolithography (SLA), Carbon (DLS), DLP, PolyJet 3D Printing, and Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF).

    + Proven computer experience, including the ability to use CAD software.

    + Organized and time-oriented individual with the ability and drive to contribute towards the quick turn-around time on finished models while ensuring fine detail and accuracy.
