What You Bring

Must-Haves:
7-10+ years of construction safety experience (3+ in leadership)
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and relevant safety experience
Hands-on experience with excavation safety practices, including trenching, shoring, and soil classification
Proven ability to manage and enforce safety protocols on excavation-heavy job sites
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and construction safety standards
Proven ability to lead teams and drive accountability
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to develop clear, professional safety documentation—including policies, training guides, reports, and internal communications
Experience and proficiency using safety management software, preferably HCSS Safety, to manage incidents, inspections, training records, and compliance documentation.
Proven experience creating and managing Site-Specific and Corporate Safety Plans, ensuring alignment with OSHA standards, project-specific risks, and company-wide safety objectives in collaboration with field and leadership teams.

**Description**
Under general supervision, supervise, coordinate, and assess the effectiveness of health and safety programs/policies, and in-field activities through supervision of personnel and/or projects. Leads processes in the Health & Safety Management System, including occupational health programs and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with government laws and regulations, and company policies.

**Description**
Engage primarily with the frontline workforce to raise awareness of health and safety policies, risks and controls. Facilitate processes in the Health & Safety Management System, including occupational health programs and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with government laws and regulations, and company policies.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join us on the Naval Powers (NP) System Safety team in Tucson, AZ.
As a Senior System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Leading one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or customer’s approved equivalent
Coordinating with customer safety representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities

Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project
management. Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:
Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
