    + Trains staff from multiple divisions in health and safety procedures, including specialized occupational health training (e.g., confined space, hearing conservation) and Annual Refresher Training as required.

    + May administer workers’ compensation program for the company, including interacting with workers’ compensation insurers, monitoring claims, developing and administering loss prevention and rehabilitation management/monitoring programs, maintain files, and provide necessary support in defense of claims.

    In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States.     **Description**

    Under general supervision, supervise, coordinate, and assess the effectiveness of health and safety programs/policies, and in-field activities through supervision of personnel and/or projects. Leads processes in the Health & Safety Management System, including occupational health programs and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with government laws and regulations, and company policies.

    + Oversee qualitative and quantitative health risk assessments, analyses of operational procedures, equipment and materials, and audits. Analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw conclusions.

    + Inspects work areas and address identified non-conformities to ensure safe work requirements are attained. Develop and recommend appropriate controls for occupational health hazards.

    + Manage the process to review, approve or reject chemicals for use on site. Serve as technical expert in chemical analysis, equipment and processes.

    + Maintain a current knowledge of Freeport-McMoRan, ISO 45001, OSHA, MSHA and other regulations and standards. Assist site management in complying with Freeport-McMoRan, OSHA, MSHA and other regulations and standards.

    + Manages projects and may directly supervise front-line or other health and safety personnel.

    + Prepare reports and present them to management in a comprehendible manner. Communicate effectively in one-on-one and group situations, both verbally and in writing.

    + Presents health & safety related information and possesses intermediate knowledge of site processes in order to respond to questions or concerns from employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
