Your Opportunity
The role of a Senior Structural Engineer is to work independently on small and medium projects, and as a team leader of larger projects responsible for work of Structural Engineers. The Senior Structural Engineer will be able to evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Independently complete calculations and drawings for small and medium projects
- Development of job specific discipline specifications independently for less complex projects
- Lead junior engineers in complex projects
- Works with and coordinates with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines
- Independently perform Construction Administration duties including completing field observations reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders

+ Contribute to the design of regional mine sites, power plants, and dams. Facilities include stockpiles, impoundments, tailing dams, and water dams.
+ Generate conceptual layouts/designs and perform calculations/analyses for channels, culverts, headwalls, detention ponds, operating ponds, spillways, rock drains, check dams, and haulage/access/circulation roads. Designs incorporate erosion control features, geosynthetics, and exposed or sub-surface piping.
+ Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, quantity and cost estimates, and alternative assessments.
+ Prepare drafts of portions of technical proposals, reports, regulatory agency permits, as well as less complex external and internal documents.
+ Prepare reservoir and pond designs including geosynthetic lining, leak detection/collection systems, breach analysis, outlet works, and spillways
+ Design channels and energy dissipation structures that include concrete, riprap, articulated concrete block, fabric-formed concrete, and baffle blocks for erosion control
+ Coordinate and integrate civil design with results from geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical designs.
+ Develop tangible engineering design skills through periodic field experience. This may include construction support (verification of design implementation, adherence to quality, contractor/owner engagement), site inspections, and geotechnical investigations. Also provide construction support from the office by adapting designs to field conditions.
