ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:
The News Department at TelevisaUnivision is looking for a Multimedia Journalist to join our team! The successful candidate should be proud of the commitment of serving our local community.
ABOUT YOU:
You will be responsible for generating story ideas, as well as making and maintaining contacts with community leaders, government officials, and local authorities. You will present reports in a clear, concise, objective manner; as well as present enterprising stories and sweeps series ideas. You are a team player with solid news judgment and must be a “one-person band” to complete a story from beginning to end. You must be able to work independently with the camera, write, edit own story, and interact with the viewers through all the Univision media platforms.
You will report to the News Director.
YOUR DAY-DAY:
•
Gather information, conduct interviews, shoot video, produce, report, and edit assigned stories daily and establish Live shots as needed.
•
Post video, pictures and stories to website, Facebook, and other social media outlets under the direction of our Digital content producers.
•
Maintain strong familiarity with local, state, and national news and events across our coverage area.
•
Establish and maintain news contacts in the community.
•
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that works well with coworkers, supervisors, and the community at large.
•
Work independently while out in the field and under various weather elements.
YOU HAVE:
•
A bachelor’s degree is preferred (i.e., communications, journalism, television broadcasting).
•
1-year newsroom experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
•
Excellent command of Spanish and English both written and verbal.
•
Applicant must be able to use newsroom computer systems and applications (both hardware/software).
•
Knowledge of iNews, video editing (such as Avid, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut), and file sharing systems preferred.
•
High ethical and journalistic standards.
•
Advanced knowledge in the use of field cameras, gear and editing systems.
•
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
•
A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
•
Ability to sit, stand and walk for up to (8) hours without restrictions.
•
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds for extended periods of time.

Primary Responsibilities

As a field technician, you’ll use our tech to create, assign, and monitor work orders, track machine service intervals, order parts, and diagnose issues faster by pulling data from hundreds of makes and models. With real-time information at your fingertips, you can determine the root cause and corrective action for each issue quickly, enabling you to work smarter, not harder.

**Responsibilities**

+ Interpreting substation drawings (e.g., single line drawings, AC and DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings) and performs red lining of design documents throughout the drawing set.

+ Writing procedures and/or test plans, risk assessments and practical application of basic protection and control systems and schemes in support of maintenance and construction activities.

+ Creating comprehensive functional guidelines and identifying common risks associated with testing and commissioning those schemes and systems.

+ Perform post-project documentation compilation and review per client requirements.

+ Testing, including (without limitation): reading/verifying all voltage and current inputs to relays; verifying all metering (local and SCADA); calibrating all relays; trip testing (local and SCADA); verifying all alarms (local and SCADA); verifying all alarms (local and SCADA); verifying all function switches, end-to-end testing, IED testing, etc.

+ Performing routine troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment. Commission new substations, power equipment, relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state and microprocessor), pilot channel equipment (power line carrier, pilot wire, transfer, transfer trip, fiber optic, CVT’s, line tuners, line traps, etc.), controls and communications equipment.

+ Leads people and tasks within a larger project or provide technical and people leadership on projects with well-defined scopes of work.

+ Performs weekly site safety inspections.

+ Leads the application of HP with the approval of the Project Lead.

**Qualifications**

+ Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes

+ Experience is desirable in any of the following related areas: substation design (including protection & control engineering); substation construction; substation commissioning; SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.

+ 3 phase power systems; power system protection & control schemes; test equipment; test equipment software

+ Test equipment and toll/wiring usage; interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams; basic test skills to perform duties listed above; basic PC skills.

+ Quickly learn and apply test procedure for various types of substation equipment; communicate effectively with diverse groups, tailoring communication for audience and situation.

+ Learn and apply client’s switching procedures and safety measures as required.

+ Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications.

+ Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors.

+ Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, business acumen, management ability

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

+ Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
