**Job Responsibilities**

+ Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

+ Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

+ Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

+ Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving

+ Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls

+ Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

**Requirements**

+ Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required

+ ASCP or AMT certification is preferred

+ Ability to work independently and within a team environment

+ Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

**Job Description**

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**

The primary purpose of this position is to handle adverse drug events (ADE’s) and technical product inquiries reported into the business unit. In addition, this position may be involved in tracking complaints and developing trend analysis reports, reviewing and approving cases, and training new hires on products, and pharmacovigilance/compliance procedures. Pharmacovigilance Veterinarians are based remotely/home office. Schedule is 40 hours a week.

**MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

+ Handle adverse drug events reported into the business unit –40%

+ Communicate with our company's Animal Health customers (primarily via telephone and email) to help resolve medical issues with patients experiencing adverse reactions or efficacy issues with our company's Animal Health Companion Animal products.

+ Document and enter complaints into the database in accordance with government and corporate policies and procedures.

+ Initiate product quality testing procedures when applicable.

+ Facilitate and consult on diagnostics.

**ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE**

**Required experience and skills:**

+ Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree

+ 3-5 years of private practice experience in a small or mixed-animal practice.

+ Current license to practice veterinary medicine, or has held one in the past but relinquished it due to lack of need in current position preferred.

+ Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry as a Pharmacovigilance Veterinarian preferred.

+ Excellent interpersonal and phone skills, with a strong commitment to Customer Service.

+ Computer literacy and strong comfort level working with databases. Preferred experience with Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office.

+ Compliance focused mindset and strong organizational skills.

**Responsibilities**

The HLA Technologist contributes to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients by the accurate performance and reporting of the laboratory testing procedures on blood, tissue, and cultured cells. Among other related duties, the HLA Technologist will perform HLA antigen testing, antibody screening, and flow cytometric crossmatching for the evaluation of solid organ and stem cell transplant patients and their prospective donors. Excellent communication skills are essential in maintaining a good rapport between the laboratory and the transplant teams, and to ensure that vital patient information is accurately shared between the groups. Job Purpose: The purpose of the Veterinary Technician Charge Nurse is nursing care to companion animal patients in addition to providing top leadership and oversight to the support staff for the department, support the veterinarians in the department, and assist the organization of the daily workflow of the hospital.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Training – Coordinates with the training coordinator on all training protocols and procedures to ensure existing support staff as well as new staff members are on-boarded and trained efficiently and effectively

+ Take part in the interview and selection process of potential new support staff candidates, to include technicians, technician assistants, lab technicians, kennel assistants, and doctor’s assistants.

+ Support staff levelling and reviews

+ Review leveling criteria and benchmarks for employee advancement per hospital protocol

+ Performs annual formal performance reviews per hospital protocol for all support staff

+ Lead the support staff team by example

+ Follow through on commitment to growth and development of entire support staff team

+ Acts as a mentor for support staff

+ Ensure appropriate medical techniques are being utilized

+ Ensure that employees are demonstrating positive customer service to all clients

+ Ensure all support staff are following hospital policies and procedures

+ Work with employees to correct deficiencies, implement training as necessary, and partner with the Leadership Team to implement corrective action or coaching procedures

+ Ensure adequate supervisor/lead coverage on all shifts

+ Ensure appropriate staffing levels by proactively recruiting and hiring

+ Working with HD and HM to meet labor expectations

+ Ensuring the department always meets and follows all required OSHA standards.

+ Invoicing and Estimates

+ Verifying and approving invoices and estimates to clients

+ This is a full-time position, and it could be expected to be available to help on different shifts if needed. It should also be expected to be in a rotating on-call status for emergent needs.

+ Scheduled time is split between training, communication, and engagement duties with each being equally important
