    **Job Responsibilities**

    + Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

    + Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

    + Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

    + Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving

    + Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls

    + Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

    + Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures

    + Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary

    + Assist with processing of specimens when needed

    + Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

    **Requirements**

    + Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

    + Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required

    + ASCP or AMT certification is preferred

    + Ability to work independently and within a team environment

    + Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

    + High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

    + Accredited Bachelors degree including 16 semester hours in biological science (one course in microbiology), 16 semester hours in chemistry (one course in organic or biochemistry), and one course in mathematics AND two (2) years of post-certification clinical laboratory experience within the last ten (10) years as a certified Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP-BOC)

    + A minimum of one (1) year of Medical Technologist experience within the last three (3) years

Identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyze chemical content of fluids, and cross match blood for transfusion and aseptically prepare blood products. The results of these tests are used in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Prepares and performs a variety of laboratory tests in one or more sections of the laboratory to obtain laboratory results and data used for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Ensures that all testing is performed accurately and resulted as ordered within turn-around-time expectations. Completes all required documentation, and follows up on all unusual and critical results as required by policy and procedure. Obtains/receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Understands specimen factors that can affect the accuracy of laboratory testing and insures the integrity of the specimen through the testing process. Understands the theory behind laboratory methods and operates various pieces of laboratory instrumentation used to obtain test results. Performs instrument maintenance, calibrations, quality control, and test procedures, troubleshooting and refers questionable or unusual cases to the technical supervisor, lab supervisor, director or pathologist. Ensures compliance with all hospital, regulatory, safety, and accrediting agency requirements. Maintains continuing education and competency requirements as defined by laboratory policy and certification agency requirements. Proficient in hospital, laboratory and office computer systems. As needed: Assist, train and orient new staff and students in their respective lab disciplines. Assumes temporary leadership role in absence of supervisor. Assist in regulatory preparation. Maintains supply and reagent levels, and practices cost containment. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science OR HEW certificate with 4 years' experience in lieu of degree.     **As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:**

    + Induce,monitorand recover anesthesia in patients and useanesthesia/monitoringequipment.

    + Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospitalincludingobtaining vitals such as temperatureheart rate, respiratoryrateand blood pressure.

    + Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
