Responsibilities Job Summary The Medical Technologist is responsible to perform complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues. Identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyze chemical content of fluids, and cross match blood for transfusion and aseptically prepare blood products. The results of these tests are used in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Prepares and performs a variety of laboratory tests in one or more sections of the laboratory to obtain laboratory results and data used for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Ensures that all testing is performed accurately and resulted as ordered within turn-around-time expectations. Completes all required documentation, and follows up on all unusual and critical results as required by policy and procedure. Obtains/receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Understands specimen factors that can affect the accuracy of laboratory testing and insures the integrity of the specimen through the testing process. Understands the theory behind laboratory methods and operates various pieces of laboratory instrumentation used to obtain test results. Performs instrument maintenance, calibrations, quality control, and test procedures, troubleshooting and refers questionable or unusual cases to the technical supervisor, lab supervisor, director or pathologist. Ensures compliance with all hospital, regulatory, safety, and accrediting agency requirements. Maintains continuing education and competency requirements as defined by laboratory policy and certification agency requirements. Proficient in hospital, laboratory and office computer systems. As needed: Assist, train and orient new staff and students in their respective lab disciplines. Assumes temporary leadership role in absence of supervisor. Assist in regulatory preparation. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS  Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.  Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian and veterinary technician to ensure the best quality pet care and to maximize the veterinarian's and veterinary technician’s productivity. Communicate with veterinarian, veterinary technicians and all other associates to maintain the flow of patients.  Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times. This includes performing or preparing procedures that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance, completing preparatory work for other procedures, ensuring that clients and pets are comfortable in the hospital, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed in the state practice acts.  Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services and other issues.  Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper and complete medical charts.  Ensure the safety of pets, clients and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs.  Assist with surgery as applicable.  Utilize technical skills to the fullest, within state practice acts and as outlined in the NAVTA guidelines for veterinary assistant skills and duties.  Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.  Other job duties as assigned.

Accurately analyzes and reports all tests ordered by the Medical Staff in a timely manner and according to laboratory procedures and regulatory guidelines to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Summary This position is located at MWR Buffalo Corral Riding Stables on Fort Huachuca, AZ. This is a flexible position (0-40 hours) with no eligibility to participate in the NAF Employee Benefits Plans. **Weekly reviews and lists sent to management starting 08 APR 2025** Responsibilities Provides care of all animals, including horses and various household pets kept at the stables, kennels and/or petting Zoo. Performs work according to established methods or follows special instructions. Responsible for keeping stables, kennel and premises in a clean and sanitary condition, and for the security and welfare of all animals. Responsible for the correct identity and quantities of various foods for each animal following specified or special schedule. Observes animals to be continually aware of appearance, behavioral or health changes, takes corrective action and informs management, veterinarian personnel or owner as necessary. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
