    The Meter Reader I reports to the Water Meter Supervisor. The primary function of this position is to read meters visual and by radio signal on assigned routes and records information with electronic handheld or mobile devices. Performs installations, inspections and repairs on water meters, meter registers, electronic radio transmitters, meter boxes, lids, connections and, route maintenance. Additional essential duties include, but not limited to:

    + Residential and commercial meter reading.

    + Residential and commercial ¾" to 2"meter replacements.

    + AMI radio installation and change outs.

    + Communicate with customer about service inquires.

    + Investigate zero consumption and non-read exception.

    + Meter transceiver unit maintenance and route maintenance.

    The Meter Reader II reports to the Water Meter Supervisor. The primary function of this position is to provide excellent customer service while investigating water customer inquiries such as excessive water consumption, crossed meters, water pressure irregularities, and leak checks. Completes daily work orders and communicates with customer, contractors, and internal sections. Trains new employees on meter section operations and equipment. Essential duties include all of Meter Reader I job duties as well as but not limited to:

    + Responds to emergency situations such as water leaks and main breaks.

    + Participates in shift rotations and overtime on a scheduled rotation.

    + New 3/4 inch up to 2 inch meter installs.

    + Completes work orders to open, close, lock off, and transfer water accounts.

    + Investigates customer concerns over water pressure, consumption inquires, meter leaks, meter box maintenance, and other issues involving the water meter and water system.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE:

    + Knowledge of various equipment and hand tools associated with meter reading, installation, maintenance, and repair.
