    Job Duties:

    -Provides advance notice to supervisor, affected persons or agencies of impending situations having a potential risk of harm or adverse effect to the security of the Departments operations
    -Develops and uses informants or other sources to get leads to information relating to criminal activity, gang activity, and absconded felons
    -Maintains surveillance and performs undercover assignments, debrief of previously validated Security Threat Group (STG) members
    -Compiles trend analysis, reports, threat assessments certifications of groups and members
    -Makes decisions concerning the validation process of STG members, appeals and court proceedings
    -Obtains/verifies evidence or establishes facts by interviewing, observing, and interrogating suspects and witnesses and analyzing records
    -Obtains and executes search and arrest warrants
    -Assist with state, county, federal and municipal agencies and other department units with investigations of all types of crimes
    -Attends AZPOST continuing and proficiency training to maintain peace officer certification

    **What Is the Opportunity?**

    Under general direction, provide Claim business partners with the scientific and engineering aspects of a loss so they have the information available to make decisions. They will need to evaluate how a company identifies and manages their inherent risk factors. Additionally they are expected to differentiate the account from others in similar classes of business. In this role the consultant will be working with our larger, more complex and all lines accounts.

    **What Will You Do?**

    + Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more of the following areas: fire science, origin and cause investigations, failure analysis of electrical, mechanical and material systems and components, warnings and instructions, product liability, code evaluation, accident reconstruction, computer modeling, tool mark analysis, analysis of building systems and construction techniques, fire protection and alarm system evaluation, analytical chemistry and/or other forensic science or engineering subjects.

    + Responsible for mentoring Forensic Specialists I & II and Forensic Technicians with regards to the proper elements of a forensic investigation including proper documentation, rules of evidence, scene and lab safety, as well as the various procedures and policies existing within the Travelers.

    + Responsible for evaluation of lab staff performance as related to one or more specific services provided by the lab.

    + Responsible for providing management of the Travelers Forensic Lab operation by assisting with policy development, review, and implementation.

    + Responsible for working with other operating units within the Travelers to ensure that the Lab provides timely, reliable and effective service as needed. To this end the Level Three Forensic Specialist will be required to attend meetings and make commitments of staff and resource as necessary to meet the needs of the laboratory business partners.

    + Travel to loss scenes to manage and direct the investigative team and ensure that the various aspects of the investigation including evidence collection and preservation, witness interviews, analysis of the scene are conducted in accordance with good forensic practice.

    + Provide technical advice and consultation to attorneys and claims staff associated with the loss.

    + Conduct research and testing, prepare reports (verbal and written), and to aid the claims, legal staff and other forensic investigators with the scientific aspects of the case.

    + May be required to become familiar with applicable codes and industry standards as well as laboratory testing protocols that may be required during an investigation.

    + Provide testimony in legal proceedings including depositions, trial, mediations and arbitration.

    + Prepare materials and data as needed to support the overall functions of Risk Control, Claims Services, and Underwriting. Such materials may include newsletters, reports, or presentations as needed to best fit the intended audience and subject matter.

    + Maintain their knowledge and skills in their particular area of expertise by attending conferences, reviewing scientific journals and participating in specific industry standards organizations such as NFPA, ACS, ASME, etc.
