Technical Responsibilities
+ Prepare reports on project status, problems encountered, and overall results.

POSITION SUMMARY

2. Replaces, builds, repairs and finishes casework and all associated hardware. Must be able to read understand and interpret blueprints, design and layout and estimates cost on various projects. Participates with all other divisions and departments to meet the facility carpentry elements, maintenance, installation and construction needs. Monitors outside carpentry elements specialty contractors to assure compliance with established hospital standards and recommends contractors where appropriate.
3. Monitors carpentry repair work, alterations and renovation upgrades. As assigned, monitors carpentry construction and installation activities. Monitors systems and installation processes to ensure the integrity of assigned carpentry elements and systems.
4. Instructs personnel regarding carpentry hazards to ensure the safe operation and use of equipment. Provides guidance, direction and oversight for carpentry training.
5. Coordinates carpentry components, materials and supplies at an appropriate level within budgetary constraints. Maintains carpentry replacement schedules and records to keep within the projected capital equipment budget. Provides input to the designated Facilities Services manager on department specifications for all components of the hospital’s carpentry systems.
6. Maintains records for facility compliance with all applicable Authorities Having Jurisdiction including local, state, federal and all other regulatory codes pertaining to any and all components of the facility carpentry systems. As required, attends annual code compliance training and performs other assigned duties.
7. Incumbents in this position work independently under general supervision. Fulfills responsibilities using specialized skills and knowledge. They are also involved in the cleaning, disinfection and maintenance of work areas. Responsibilities The duties may include, but are not limited to: Prepares and weighs out different rearing media and diet ingredients using different scales in preparing to make artificial diet. Prepares disinfectant, for cleaning and sanitation of equipment to ensure healthy production levels through the productive lifespan of the colony. Operates and/or synchronizes multiple pieces of equipment for the establishment of the colony. Provides feed to insects, controls temperature and humidity, and harvests pupae or adults, records collection data, and verifies that the data is correct and properly backed up. Separates insects into categories such as sex and/or specie and controls them to prevent escape or intermingling. Observes insect collections for obvious changes of live cycles, deaths, and general activity. Performs irradiation and irradiation monitoring of insects prior to shipping and puts the information into storage and a database. Maintains approved disinfectants to clean and sanitize the floors, walls and equipment; operates high pressure steam washers, and uses autoclave to sterilize materials, water, and objects.
